Christ was born into the world as a tiny, helpless infant who had to rely on other people for everything! Food, clothes, shelter, education, etc. His mother bore Him in a stable without heat or a midwife in attendance. Yet, this tiny baby showed humanity the strength of God that lies within this human poverty and weakness. 33 years later, He hung on the cross at Calvary in what the world saw as complete powerlessness, but it was the greatest triumph in salvation history. Even today, He appears helpless in the tabernacle, for anyone can take Him out and do whatever they want… honor Him, desecrate Him… but His example is the complete offering of Himself to us.
As we approach Christmas Day, you may be feeling weak, lost and defeated… stripped of your precious things, but remember Christ’s example to us of strength in weakness is the example par excellence! Open yourself to Christ, for this is when He has the room He needs to start working in your life. He needs your weakness and your trust. He will give you the strength you need.
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me (2 Corinthians 12:9).
