Lisa Duffy’s Daily Reflection

There are always things you need to remind yourself of… take your vitamins. Pay the bills. Call your mom. Reduce your salt intake. The list can be endless.

Here is a daily prescription for you to remember that can make a huge difference in your life… PFED, which stands for Practice Forgiveness Every Day.

It doesn’t matter who you are or who you need to forgive, but especially if you’ve gone through a divorce, there is much to forgive. Your ex-spouse, the other man/woman, in-laws, etc. Maybe the one who needs the most forgiveness is you? Are you having trouble forgiving yourself?

Forgiveness after divorce can seem like an insurmountable task but it’s not impossible. God will give you the grace you need to forgive if you ask Him for it in prayers. He wants to help you clean out the anger and resentment from your heart so there is more room for love.

By practicing forgiveness every day, you begin a habit of loving instead of blaming so each time you feel that anger hitting you, let it go, say “I forgive you” or whatever it is that helps you release the debt you are holding.

And be you kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake has forgiven you (Ephesians 4:32).
