Lisa Duffy’s Daily Reflection

We all fall. We fall to temptation. It’s the human condition and no one is exempt.

When Jesus fell three times as He carried the cross, He did not fall to sin, but He showed us He understood our humanity, because He was human, too. His example was simple, yet powerful… get up again. Embrace your cross. Don’t give up.

Pray:

Lord, when I contemplate you falling three times under the weight of your cross it’s hard to understand how you were able to go on. So many times I feel as though I can’t go on. Just when I think I’ve overcome the problem, another obstacle trips me up and I fall. Won’t you strengthen me with your grace, Lord? Help me to see that when I am most vulnerable, when my heart is broken and I think my situation is hopeless, you still want me to surrender. Jesus, teach me how to do this. I cannot do it without your grace. Piece together my broken heart and spirit with the healing power of your love.

Though I thought I had toiled in vain, for nothing and for naught spent my strength, Yet my right is with the LORD, my recompense is with my God. For now the LORD has spoken who formed me as his servant from the womb, that Jacob may be brought back to him and Israel gathered to him; I am honored in the sight of the LORD, and my God is now my strength! (Isaiah 49: 4-5).
