Everything Jesus did during His life was for the salvation of souls.
Every healing He performed, every parable He told, every visit to someone’s home for dinner… He had a purpose for everything He did and it was all for saving souls. He dined with the sinners and tax collectors as well as His more righteous friends, Lazarus, Martha, and Mary.
I believe that every day, all day, you and I receive invitations to “dine” with Christ. Invitations to the banquet in heaven that are offered through our everyday circumstances, trials and challenges. Do you recognize these invitations from Christ?
To “dine” with Him, in my opinion, is simply to connect with Him on a personal level, whether it be during your designated prayer time, at mass, driving in the car, doing homework with the children, meeting a client, etc. Every moment of our day can be an opportunity to connect with Jesus, simply by thinking of Him as we do it and making sure our spiritual “antennae” are up and alert. Especially during this time of preparation, I invite you to open your eyes to the ways Christ is inviting you to connect with Him and accept, knowing that His entire reason for inviting you is to love you and refresh you.
When one of those at the table with him heard this, he said to Jesus, “Blessed is the man who will eat at the feast in the kingdom of God. – Luke 14: 15
