Someone once said to me, “The harder it is, the more you know you need to do it.” I’m definitely motivated by that statement, but I do understand its significance…
What is the hardest part about what you’re going through right now?
Is it forgiving? Is it letting go of the relationship you had with your ex-spouse? Is it watching your children leave with your ex-spouse, knowing you have no control over what will happen while they are gone? There are many difficult things about divorce that we don’t want to accept and in turn, run the risk of drowning in anger and resentment.
But I extend the same challenge to you that was extended to me: “The harder it is to do, the more you know you need to do it.” Just as exercising flabby muscles is painful, so will be doing what is difficult, but the results will be AMAZING! You will purify and strengthen your will in such a way that you will become a different person… a better, stronger person. And that, my friend, is something that God will bless you for.
Now for this very reason also, applying all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence, and in your moral excellence, knowledge, and in your knowledge, self-control, and in your self-control, perseverance, and in your perseverance, godliness, and in your godliness, brotherly kindness, and in your brotherly kindness, love. – 2 Peter 1:5-7
