Luza had never tried online dating, but the 28-year-old from southern California felt confident when she joined CatholicMatch. The member stories archive is filled with examples of people who had doubts about online dating, but felt differently after meeting their match. In this case, Luza’s confidence was validated perhaps even faster than she might have dared hope.
“I viewed Andrew’s profile almost immediately,” she said recalling the early days of her membership. “We hit it off, sending each other emotigrams, then sending brief messages.” After about a month, they took their dialogue to the phone, so they could hear the sound of each other’s voices.
“I loved hearing the sound of his voice,” Luza said. “It was so hard to wait to see each other.” Andrew and Luza live about a 3 ½ hour drive from each other and it took some time for their first date to finally work out. The in-person chemistry enhanced what they had come to feel for each other online and over the phone.
“I knew this was the man for me,” Luza told CatholicMatch. Andrew shared her feelings that they were meant to be together, but they also knew they had to continue the dating process. “We decided it would be best for him to move,” she said. “It’s been really hard to have a long-distance relationship.”
Now they are nearby each other, the relationship is continuing to grow and they are looking into getting married next spring. Luza’s confidence paid off.
Jennifer is another example of someone who found what she was looking for, and found it even better than she had hoped. The 32-year-old from the Dallas area was thrilled to find Jorge, five years older and living within an hour’s drive.
“He loves me and and my son,” she told CatholicMatch. “He protects us, and supports us before he even thinks of himself.” Those closest to Jennifer have even told her that she has not only found a good man, but that it’s apparent they both make each other better by being together.
“We’re not perfect by any means,” Jennifer said. “We just share the Lord’s love and compassion.” The couple is still discerning God’s ultimate plan for them and is hopeful it will lead to marriage.
