I haven't been married but am having a very hard time with my relationship. After 5 years I have become more Godly and more of a practicing Catholic, he has become a bitter atheist and at this point not sure what to do.

I have learned that it is very important for me that the man in my life be a practicing Catholic and not simply Catholic because there is a difference. I would want my future spouse to have at least the same degree of devotion to the Catholic faith as I do.

I was not a Catholic at the time of my marriage and, also married in a Courthouse by a Justice of the Peace. Since I'm a revert and madly in love with my Catholic faith, I would have to marry someone who feels the same as I do

Faithfulness for me is the first and most important criteria for a lasting relationship. We have to get to know each other long enough for me to see, based on her behavior and her reflexes, that she is an honest person that will be faithful to any man she is emotionally involved with. Once we start meeting each other (ideally as simple friends) hopefully I will be able to see if she is a respectful lady and if there can be a bond between us that will make both of us feel for each other, look out for each other. Then and only then would I look at her physical appearance, and only if she is very obese would that be an obstacle. If she meets all those criteria and she is in my age bracket (between 40 and 53), then that's all I need, and I would pursue her. I think that I am very reasonable and many women meet all of those criteria hands down. Obviously, for all this to work, she must not have selection criteria that are so tough and so numerous that they eliminate 99.99% of the male population.

He must be a Catholic and a practicing Catholic for awhile before I was in the picture.

Must be religious, Catholic is preferred. No drugs, doesn't smoking. I feel that a single person wouldn't understand the affects that divorce leaves on a persons life. And who knows what it is like to raise a child on their own with dealing with the in laws and the true dedication it took to send a child to Catholic school. Arlene
