Had a SUPER time at the Chili cook-off! A BIG thanks to Rob, Dawn, and Chris for their efforts in organizing this event! It gets bigger and better every year! Also enjoyed meeting new CM'ers. A Special thanks to Bill for promoting chili #14 when it was time for the voting! I didn't realize at the time it was my entry! lol

Hi Everyone! I can't believe another opportunity to see my new CM friends is just a few days away! I am still a fence sitter and waiting to see what my work schedule will be. In the event I am able to show up, may I bring another dessert (noticed only 2 desserts, so far) Okay, Michelle (PA) don't laugh! I would also be happy to bring any type of extras (chips, drinks, cheese, etc) you might still need.
I won't need Hotel Rob and I won't be attending Mass this time. I am (hopefully) looking forward to coming and enjoying the fun, food and fellowship again!!

One of our events ran all the way through Sunday so we ate the leftover brunch food for dinner! Rob, I too remember running out of chili AND b'fast casseroles at past events - it's hard to judge how much to bring, how much folks will eat, who will come last minute, who will bring larger quantities.....but I definitely agree I'd rather we have too MUCH than not enough.
Remember -if you have special dietary requirements (gluten-free, vegetarian, etc.) be sure to bring something you can eat so you don't go hungry. The coffee we make in the morning is regular. If anyone wants decaf, be sure to bring some instant or single-cup packets for yourself.

Nancy, I will plan on staying. I am not a paid subscriber to this site anymore, so please share your information with Dawn or Mary and they can relay it to me. Not sure I'll make the 6 a.m. Sunday. We'll see how late we're up the night/morning. Ah fun times ahead.

I may be hitting the grocery store some night this week, so would like to pick up my "pitch-in" item since I'm not bringing chili. What shall I bring? Crackers? Cookies? Do we have non-carbonated beverages for folks like me who don't care for the "fizz"?

I have somehow ended up with several cans of creamed corn (and I don't even like it) So I'm going to make up a creamed corn casserole.. In my daily Food Network email the other day I got a recipe for a Chile Cheese Breakfast Casserole..Thought I might give that a whirl for breakfast.. I will be staying at Robs as usual..

We're just a few weeks away from the big event! You fence-sitters in the " Maybe" column need to make that all important decision to attend! You'll have a terrific time...we guarantee it! I enjoy the "flack" Deanne. Bring it! lol Has anyone heard if Ms. Ketchup is attending? lol

Hi Mary B! Just wanted you to know I will have the breakfast pizza recipe for you when I come to the chili cook-off. Sounds like the competition is going to be tough this year? Deanne has given me plenty of flack already and it just won't be the same if she can't make it!

Glad the numbers are equaling out a bit - now the guys can't use the 'outnumbered' excuse when they lose in board games. :P (That as for Andrew mostly!)
I'll see you all at mass. I'm not bringing a chili entry. If nobody is bringing saltines yet, I can bring a few boxes. I'm sleeping at home, but will be back for breakfast. Want me to make a bfast casserole too, or did I previously say I'd bring something else? It's been a while since we first started talking about this - might need a status update on who is bringing what to figure out what's still needed for pitch ins.
Is anyone coming to town early and wants to see a bit of our fair city? There are a few of us who can play tour guide, but we need advance notice to work out our schedules. Thanks.

Getting SO excited about this event!! Deana, so sorry you won't be joining us. Excellent "numbers" Rob!!! But I think we need more people to join us-- especially more MEN!!! :) ;) Michelle, if someone is trying to contact you, they can contact me for information of any kind. Please don't be shy, whomever you are! I promise that my emails don't bite.

So, Ann gets to keep her gold medal but we have to give back the trophies?? How about Mary's friend Chris who now lives in Alaska? I'll bet she's not mailing her trophy in! LOL I'm just a sore winner! I'm still planning on being there but work already messed up my plans to attend Snow Days!

Yipppeee!!! It's getting closer! I am attending Mass, staying at Hotel Rob and bringing...bread and dip... or something like that-- unless someone wants to suggest something else. This is going to be such a blast!! Chris and Denise are coming (and bringing my lil Goddaughter. :) And there are so many new people interested!! Yeah, new people! I'm still hoping that there will be some more gentlemen taste-testers to sign up. We need their unique palettes. Plus, there's just something about chili and men... they go together!

Zoom, John and Rob - looking forward to seeing you all again.
John - if you're taking the Megabus - let us know the times as early as possible so we can try to arrange rides.
Helen - I'd LOVE to guarantee the weather - and stepping up prayers for it is the best tool we have, right? PRAY, people!
Donna - Yee Haw will be good to see you again, and thanks for picking up Michelle too! The hotel is decent, you'll be able to get a good night's rest, and they have heat and everything, so you shouldn't be too cold!!! :)

All you MAYBES - change those to definite YES rsvps and plan to join in our fun. We've got folks traveling in for this - so for anyone here early enough on Sat, we'll plan to show you the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum and you can take a track lap tour as well. Then we'll do a quick drive through downtown so you can see a little of our fair city. We'll get back up north of town to Rob's and the Comfort Suites so you can get ready for mass and also prep your pitch in item. Sunday we'll hang out after a pitch in breakfast, and maybe catch another movie or play a game. Point being - if you want to make a weekend out of it - we can work with that.

Actually last year when I coordinated the chili cook off we changed up the way the contest runs. Everyone receives a single token. Then you just drop your token in the cup that is numbered the same as your favorite chili. This is all just for fun and we want everyone to participate, so even if you don't try all of the chili's you can still vote.

Mary - Thank you for the heads up on the Get Togethers room ~still trying to navigate the updates on here! Such nice pictures - your all so beautiful!! Thank you for your comment on the "Monday morning high" I was glad to know of kindred spirits out there. Of course, mine started Sunday morning!! LOL My girls commented on Mom being "pumped".
Rob - you are a wonderful host! Thank you for opening your home for us all.
Dawn - Again, all your efforts (and especially your hugs) MADE for the fun, fellowship & faith we all experienced.
Donna - your correct "you might come a stranger - but you leave a friend" How incredibly true!!

Patty - yep, I'm slinky dog's new owner. Check the pictures in the Get Togethers room Christmas Party thread - we posted a few. He posed nicely. :)
Zoom - wonderful that you can make it. As Rob said, we pray for good travel conditions so more folks can attend.
Y'all talk it up in the Fora thread - keep this on people's minds.
Dennis - I like that about you, you believe in well balanced meals. ;-P I may have to exclude myself from judging - I'll pay for it dearly if I eat flame-bursting chili. (RULE IS: If you vote, you MUST taste EACH chili, you can't skip ANY of them. That's the only way to judge them fairly. So if I skip a few hots ones in order to avoid potential pain, I won't vote.)

Michelle - That cheesecake~that embarrassing cheesecake! I wish I had a pic of what it looked like before it decomposed! If you truly will have to call in - you should be able to cast the winning vote!! Your own cook-off - what a hoot!!
Mary - thank you for the "guardian"angel directions for Michelle (and me) and for the wonderful hug I received when you introduced yourself. Scare me off? Heavens no! You all embrace first timers the way Christ would!!
Christina - Thank you for posting this event so quickly! Do you know who ended up w/slinky dog??

Michelle - a phone call is a MUST then, because you have to be there some how! It won't be the same without you, but we do understand work obligations. As soon as we set a date for the next one, I'll message you so you can get it on your calendar.
Patty - Glad we didn't scare you and the other first timers at the Christmas party away, and that you're brave enough to come back again! :) it
Justin - it's a great first event - you won't regret it!

Michelle - You were the first sweet angel to take me under your wing - and you survived a chilly ride in my car! If it weren't for you, I would still be driving circles around OLMC! A novel idea to dial in for the event - BUT - we will just have to pray your schedule "works" out!!!

I'm definitely "IN"... I won't be cooking, as there needs to be only ONE CINCY Chili entry! ;) Mary and Michelle, we will certainly be praying for a travel-safe path for you and others to make it. Patty, it was so great to finally meet you. Hope to see you again at the Cook-off! Justin, glad that you are interested. Put in for that weekend off! This group of people really does know how to combine faith, food and friends, and we are bringing in new people all the time! Ride the wave with us!
