Event Details

This St. Patrick's Day Weekend should be a special event! DOGTOWN PARADE ON SATURDAY!!- We can participate in the parade in Dogtown. The LAOH will be glad to have the company! We will be among the first three groups to go....which means we get to watch the rest of the groups in the parade! Dogtown's parade is a typical Midwestern, Irish, hometown parade. There is no commercialization....and no other like it! You can read about Dogtown - one of St. Louis' only thriving Irish areas - here. If that doesn't work, google: AOH Dogtown St. Patrick's Day Parade - St. Louis or anything like that. There is also the St. Louis City Parade which is a great parade; anyone who wishes to go to that is surely welcome. However, it will never compete with the flavor and atmosphere of a hometown parade where all the floats are built by the participants. We will be staying at the Hilton Frontenac Hotel. Please make your reservations early: the hotel takes Triple A (AAA). We are not registered as a group. It is at the intersection of Lindbergh Blvd. and Highway 64/40. We will be traveling this highway into St. Louis for the events. Dogtown is about a 10 minute, straight shot, east on the highway. A schedule of events will be forthcoming. Fee will be $65 this year. It will include refreshment and food in Mark's room, the famous Mary Kathryn's Cottage Irish Stew and Potato Soup dinner , etc., on Saturday night, original St. Louis "goodies", such as, Gooey Butter Coffee Cake, Ted Drewe's Ice Cream, Dad's Cookies, Gus's Pretzels and Imo's pizza. It will also include your choice of official CM St. Patrick's Day attire and an official CM St. Louis 2012 button made by me.....Mary Kathryn! Please mail the first payment of $25 to Mary Kathryn Victor, 890 Alexandra Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63122, by February 15th. The final payment of $30 will be due March 1st. Cannot wait to see you..... and some of you again!! Slan agus Beannacht! Your Dedicated SLU CRU

See Anne for details. 9:30am Meet in the hotel lobby for transportation to Dogtown and the original St. Patricks Day Parade in St. Louis. Break out the Green! Dye your hair! Paint your nails! Mutter Gaelic under your breath! Enjoy! Those who wish to walk in the parade must have a parade button. See Mary Kathryn. 2:15pm This year Mark has planned a new venue for sightseeing. After the Dogtown parade, gather with Mark and venture to the quaint historical city of St. Charles, MO. The city of St. Charles, located on the swiftly flowing Missouri River, was once the capitol of Missouri known as San Carlos. Strolling down Main Street in Old St. Charles, one can see many quaint shops and restaurants. Feel like hiking? The Katy Trail is located about a block away on the banks of the river, or just take a short walk by the riverside. 6:00pm Its to Mary Kathryns Country Cottage for a great homemade Irish dinner of the Cullinane family stew, soda bread, potato soup and dessert at Ted Drewes! Also included are St. Louis originals, such as, Gooey Butter Coffee Cake, Gus Pretzels, and Toasted Ravioli. Sunday 9:30am Breakfast at Mary Kathryns scrambled eggs? Bagels? Its up to you. Give Mary Kathryn your order by Saturday evening. 11:15am Leave for Mass at the St. Louis Cathedral - the New Cathedral. Noon Mass at the Cathedral and final farewells!

If anyone attending wants my cell phone number just send me an email through here and I'll send it to you. Let me know by 1pm central time. I won't have computer access after 2pm as my place of work is updating the networking systems and everyone will be headed across the street to an early happy hour. :-) Probably won't be reachable again till after 5:30pm.

Hi Mary Kathryn, Ann, and all! - I've been anticipating this event for the longest time and wanted pretty much to attend but I cannot. I have to either start my workday on Monday the 19th at 6:00AM to head to Cincinnati or travel on Sunday to Cinci for project inspections, which either way spoils (and scraps) my plans to spend weekend with ya'll in SLU :( ... I'll join you in spirit. Have fun!

If you know for sure you are coming let Mary Katheryn know ASAP so we know how much food to buy for Saturdays party as well as how many to have a table for the restaurant on Friday night.
