CM Members Converge On Texas…

CM gatherings continue to galvanize our online community.
Early in March, Catholic Match
members from around the country converged on the state of Texas
for the “Mission Festival
organized in San Antonio. They kicked off the weekend with a laid-back
Friday night dinner at a hotel that former president Theodore Roosevelt
stayed at. The following day was the main event–the eighteen people
who made the trip were treated to a tour led by author and historian
Charles Coulombe. According to one participant–“Charles did a fantastic job leading our group and giving us historical
background on the missions, tying it all in with American history,
Texas history, Mexican history, and, of course, Church history,
whenever possible.” Coulombe also gave a talk to the group that evening at dinner.

The event, like other gatherings that have been held around the
country gives your Catholic Match participation a new texture. CM can
help you make the first contact online, but activities like the Mission
Festival are what enable members to meet each other face-to-face and to
truly put a personality with those behind the forum postings and e-mail

The event was such a success, that momentum is being built
for another gathering in May. CM Fort Worth is now on the events calendar
Memorial Day weekend. Activities for this weekend are not finalized,
but the
possibilities include tantalizing options like a visit to the city’s
Japanese gardens and touring the Stockyards National Historic District,
the Old West comes to life. And much more. A 2007 St. Patrick’s Day
gathering in the Lone Star state is also in its early planning stages.
Contact Jelina-109452 for more details on the ’07 gathering and contact Clint-86933 for the fast-approaching Fort Worth event.

Through the hard work of CM members like Jelina, Marge, Clint,
Robert, Nick, and many others (special thanks to Kimberly-87962
for the
photo), the great state of Texas has been a boon for Catholic Match
members in the early part of 2006. Through
gatherings like these, friendships are made and the seeds of
possibilities are planted. So if you’re in the neighborhood of Fort
Worth, or able to
travel this Memorial Day, consider taking a look at the events calendar
updates. An active Catholic Match
community offline, as well as online is what makes it possible for our
to find what they came here for. With the success of the Mission
Festival and
the coming attractions, perhaps the country music group Little Texas said

God Bless Texas with His own hand
Brought down angels from the promised land
Gave em’ a place where they could dance
If you wanna see heaven brother here’s your chance
I’ve been sent to spread the message
God bless Texas
