MySpace & The Magic Happened

I had never ever even heard of Catholic until one day I was on my MySpace page and just happen to see it advertised. I thought I would give it a shot. I was not into dating the “normal way” by going to bars and stuff like that, as I am not really a bar kind of guy.

I can’t remember the exact time I started on CM, but I know it was not long until I saw Debbie–my soon-to-be-wife. I was talking to a couple other women on CM, but it was something about Debbie that caught my eye. I smiled at her, she smiled back and we eventually started messaging back and forth. This was in September of ’06. We talked for a long time, as I am a very shy person when it comes to talking to women and then meeting them.

On October 31st, we finally set a date to meet at a movie theater here in the Dallas -Fort Worth area. We met at the Harkins Theater there to see The Guardian. It almost didn’t happen though, as it was storming pretty good, and I called Debbie to see if she wanted to postpone it. She said heck no, she was on her way. She showed up a little late to the movie as I was already in sitting down. She could not miss me as I had on a Pittsburgh Penguin hockey jersey. She had on a Leather coat with jeans…Whew

After the movie we walked out and we were holding hands, and I knew right there that I wanted to be with Debbie for the rest of my life. I know it is corny to say, like the movie Sleepless in Seattle said, but when our hands connected it was magic. I didn’t want to leave. In fact, we said our goodbyes and she walked to the back of the theater and I to the front where we parked–I was such an idiot to not walk her to her car. I called or texted – I can’t remember which–to come to the front where I stood outside her car for a long time talking, and she gave me a penguin ornament. I could not believe she did that and it made me feel good. I kissed her on the cheek and we went home.

We kept talking and then had another date the following week. Dinner and a movie. One of the Santa Claus movies, I think it was part 2. At dinner she says she could not shut me up, and we almost missed our movie as we talked for a long time. It was such a great night, I finally got the kiss and that was it for me I knew she would be my wife.

The rest of the year was awesome, as we spent holidays together and kept going out. I met most of her friends on New Years, and that was pretty nerve racking, as was meeting her parents around Thanksgiving time. I met her mom and sister in a Target before I met anyone else in her family. It was a great first year.

Then, on October 31st 2007, I finally popped the question. A year from the date of our first date. It was so great as I had a couple of her friends help me out in getting everything ready, and her friend Angela had someone she know carve a pumpkin that said “Marry Me”. They put that on a table with my ring in front of it. When we walked into the room Debbie didn’t know it right away, then when she realized what was going on she started to cry. I got the ring and said “let me do this properly”. I asked her to be my wife, she said yes and the rest is history.

We got married the following October 25th 2008. We are coming up on our 1 year anniversary and it has been the best year of my life. We went to Hawaii for our honeymoon, swam with sharks and did all the touristy things there. It was awesome. We have traveled to Pittsburgh, Toronto, and San Antonio, just to name a few. We had such great times together, and I am looking forward to many more great times with Debbie.

I encourage anyone to try Catholic Match, as it really works. Debbie and I are testaments that online dating does work. I want to thank everyone at CM for making this site as, otherwise, I might not have met my true love…
