Love Knows No Distance

I met Patrick online Feb 21, 2010. Actually Feb 20th he sent me a
smile and that’s really what began things. When I received his
smile, I really thought nothing of it since he lived so far away from
me. I live in California and he lives in Georgia–actually that’s where
he’s stationed. Ironically, I had given up all hope of finding someone
online and three days prior to him contacting me I nearly deleted my
profile entirely. I stuck around because I liked the forums. I have to
add that I had been a member of CM off and on for some four years.
Patrick joined the site three days before contacting me and did it out
of curiosity. Initially he joined as a free member but in order to chat
with me he purchased a month long membership.

Anyways, the day after he
sent me a smile he invited me to chat. As I mentioned before I didn’t
think anything of it because of our distance, however I thought he was
attractive and figured, “what the heck, I’ve got nothing else to do.”
That was the best decision I’ve ever made. We instantly hit it off and
we chatted for hours. Regardless of the three-hour time difference he
stayed on to chat with me. After our first chat he asked for my phone
number so that he could keep in contact with me while he was out in the
field doing training because he knew that he’d be away from the
internet and he didn’t want to lose contact with me.  (He’s in the
Army) I gave him my number and no more than a few minutes after logging
out of the Internet I received a text message from him wishing me a
good night. At that moment I knew this guy was not joking around.

began our correspondance. Less than a month after our first chat he
flew out to California to meet me and the moment I saw him at the airport I
knew that this was it. We clicked and it felt as if we had known each
other for years. His first visit was short because he was only allowed
to be out in California for a weekend. After our first visit we did what we
could to see each other as often as possible. He did most of the
traveling. Remarkably enough, everything fell into place.

Three months
after we offically began dating I went with my father to visit
Patrick in Georgia. His folks were in town as well, however he
and I managed to get away for a few hours in order to spend some time
together. I suggested that we go to a perpetual adoration chapel. It
took us an hour to find the church that had adoration but eventually we
made it there and spent some time in prayer. As we were leaving he led
me over to an area out side of the church got down on one knee and
proposed! To say that I was caught off guard would be an
understatement. My dad and his folks knew that he’d be asking me that
day I had no clue. It was a moment that I will never forget and one
that I’ve waited for my whole life. Patrick has been everything that
I’ve prayed for and then some. I can’t tell you how lucky I am to have
this man in my life and it’s even better to know that he feels exactly
the same way about me. Thanks CatholicMatch!! I haven’t booked the
church yet but we’re planning on getting married October 1st 2011, a
few months after he returns from his tour in Iraq.

If I could make one
tiny request that would be for everyone to please pray for him since he
will be deploying to Iraq and will remain there for a year. If there’s
one bit of advice that I can give it would be to be patient and not to
limit yourself to your state. Love sees no distance and if two people
truly love eachother and truly want to be with eachother than distance
will not hinder them from being together. The picture that I’m
providing was taken a few hours after he proposed.

Thank You! My parents are trying to make me stop communicating with a man I met on CM, because he lives in Pennsylvania…which is only a 4 hour drive away. They are convinced that long distance relationships can never work out. I definitely had an instant connection with him, and I believe we fell in love almost before we met. We have kept in contact, even though both my parents and his parents think we should not talk, email, text, or have any type of communication. We truly believe that somehow God will make it happen, just as it has happened for you 🙂
You are definitely in my prayers
    Thanks for the encouragement!
    God Bless,

I’m sorry that both of your parents are so against your relationship. Trust me when I say that it’s good to have at least one set of parents on your side otherwise you’re relationship will suffer. I would talk to them and see why they are so against it. If their objection is simply due to location then I would continue persuing this relationship and letting it run it’s course naturally. For me 4 hours is nothing. Good luck with everything.

what about different countries? This site seems to be limited only to the United States. What if the other person lives in Switzerland or Germany for example? Would that make a difference?

I have never known it any other way then long distance and over the years I have treaded lots of air and fully understanding this,I knew it was never personal when women would like me but still consider me a low priority and I hope that someday that I’ll meet someone that has nothing better to do and it will give them a chance to know me and also that they may see that while having to have to always drive so far may make me seem desperate .
The other side to is that I had to make the choice to come to see them because I can only travel one direction at a time what is truly a complement but well hidden and only realized by those who seek it.
