Newlywed Bliss: From A Papal Blessing To A Baby Girl

Craig and Wenqi Glantz met on CatholicMatch and were married on April 18, 2009. Four days later they were back in their wedding attire, attending a Wednesday morning papal audience in Rome. “Walking down streets of Gianicolo, we were greeted by cheering Italians,” Wenqi recounts. “Even people in a passing bus waved and clapped. It was like being on a movie set!”

Pope Benedict’s audience lasted more than two hours and then he began greeting visitors. “As he approached us he gently reached for our hands, we were overwhelmed with excitement! Papa! Papa! Finally!” Wenqi recalls. “You can really feel the presence of Christ in Pope Benedict. Gentle smiles, blue eyes, a bit of a tanned face and a very soft palm. ‘We are from Philadelphia. I am originally from China!’ I introduced us. ‘You are the hope of China!’

The pope responded with a gentle smile and a grandfather’s loving look in his eyes. Craig reached out his hands and kissed the ring on Benedict’s right hand. A holy kiss indeed!”

The Glantzes live in Philadelphia, Pa., where they work on a husband-wife apostolate building websites for Catholics. They are the proud parents of 5-month-old Lai Lai Maria, who was born on their one-year anniversary.

I’m totally amazed at such blessed sharings for us on this site through these articles!!! This one particularly impressed me again with how Our Lord works in such unexpected & beautifully exciting ways – this couple from Philidelphia, PA. never would have believed they’s have a private audience with Pope Benedict schuled by Jesus Himself !!!

anonymous. Hi it’s Craig. I tell you I always loved our popes and felt it was a great duty to pray for them but I never expected to be so blown away by the presence of Christ in him! It was like a sea of radiant peace and joy like I have never felt coming from any one person or collection of persons or from anything in God’s creative realm. Those who meet the Pope truly have an opportunity to come into the presence of one holy man, despite what you may read about in the newspapers and what the naysayers may say. “Father forgive them they know NOT what they do.” BTW, any newly married couple can meet him and have an audience with him. Just go to the NAC’s website and register! Pax.
