You, Me, 24 Hours & Internet Safety: A Tip For Online Daters

“Do you have a Yahoo account? Can we chat there?”

If I had a nickel for every time a scam artist asked those questions, I’d have no student loans, a new car and a swimming pool.

Almost every Internet scam starts that way. The reason is simple really: The scam artist has, on average, well under 24 hours before they are removed from CatholicMatch. We are vigilant in tracking down scammers and they know it.

So when someone asks me, “Nathan, what is the most important thing to do to keep myself safe on CatholicMatch?” I answer every time with a single word, “Wait!”

Just wait a day or two at least before you give out your email address, instant message name, Facebook ID, or even your Skype. Let me do my job – and what I’m good at –  to keep you safe!

I’m so proud of the safe environment we can provide, but it only keeps you safe if you take advantage of it!

Also, we as Catholic Match members are encouraged to “tag” someone suspicious and assist administration.
