A Lesson From Josh Groban: Don’t Hide Your Heart Away

International recording artist Josh Groban launched his “Straight to You” world tour earlier this month. He will undoubtedly perform hits like the beloved ballad, “You Raise Me Up,” but he’ll also feature new songs from his album, “Illuminations,” such as “Hidden Away,” a song that provides great insight for single Catholics.

“And all these words you were meant to say
Held in silence day after day
Words of kindness that our poor hearts crave
Please don’t keep them hidden away…”

The lyrics speak of opening your heart, expressing your true feelings and living your life without regrets – all things to strive for, especially for Catholics in the dating scene.

There comes a time when each of us realizes how futile it is to sit silently in the background while potential spouses come in and then out of our lives. You learn to set aside your fears and confidently express what you feel, what you believe and what you want.

“Please don’t keep your heart hidden away,” Josh Groban sings. Put your heart out there, and even if your feelings are not reciprocated, at least you know you were honest enough with yourself to not keep your heart hidden away.

Wow !! I really enjoyed this song . I think this is a true message today . We do hide many things afraid of offending someone or its not our business or what ever the reason may be . When my son died , or my Mom died , ( just recently ) , the people who made such effort to find me and ask me , Stacey how are you ? Is everything okay ? Or like for Mothers day , a few of my co workers asked me , how was it , did you get through it okay ? Or coming to me and with no words , just hugged me . I have no words to really express how much it means to me when someone comes out of that hidden area , to touch my heart , to extend kindnesses , warmth , care . Sometimes a compliment can turn some ones day around , can turn a negative mood into positive . And on CM , I appreciate all the blogs or articles , trying to encourage us to go past the awkward places , to challenge us like when we use to be in school and socializing was so much easier with groups of friends , that after Divorce can be a challenge with raising kids and not living near family anymore .
So thank you CM for being our family of singles and encouraging us !

Don’t use discernment as a way to hide. Be honest. It may hurt the other person. They will heal. I did and I know in my heart she was right to go her own way. Lover fiercely and tenderly with God first always! Amen.
