Shared Faith & Shared Interests Lead To Shared Lives

Country music, red wine and Faith brought Ryan and Maranda together

Valentine’s Day is a special time for couples and often a conflicted time for singles. This past February, Kimberly and Troy were in the latter category. But they got online and did something about it, and that very night started the process that has already led to something special.

Kimberly is from Maryland while Troy goes to school in Virginia. They made the connection online on Valentine’s Day and spent the next few weeks getting to know each other through the chat feature. “The more I learned about him, the more I liked him and wanted to keep talking to him,” Kimberly told CatholicMatch.

After exchanging phone numbers and spending a few more weeks on the phone, Troy wanted to make the drive north to meet. They clicked so thoroughly that Kimberly would describe the date as “like a fairy tale”.

They have entered into a dating relationship and looking forward to what the future may hold. Kimberly and Troy share both a common faith and common life goals and it takes both for something lasting to be built. They hold a deep conviction that God is watching out for them.

Another couple who find a common bond beyond the Catholic faith was Ryan and Maranda. The Minneapolis couple shown in the photo here identify three things that brought them together—Country music, red wine and the Catholic faith. Indeed, faith can not only move mountains, it can take the simple interests and joys of life and turn them into something special.

After finding each other on CatholicMatch, they dated for a year. Ryan would then propose marriage while they were on a lobster cruise. “Getting down on one knee in the bow of an old pirate ship made us feel a little like Leo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet in Titanic,” Ryan said. “But it was perfect.”

Faith is the vital prerequisite for building a marriage, but it’s important not to lose sight of common interests and life goals. Kimberly and Troy, along with Ryan and Maranda, share both and CatholicMatch hopes things continue to go well for them.
