Know Your CatholicMatch Relationship Status

I knew it. This CatholicMatch thing actually works.

After two months as a full member, I’ve found someone. And when I say someone, I don’t mean just anyone. I mean someone pretty great, who makes me believe that true, life-giving relationships can originate on this site. It appears that the waiting game and my courage to make the first move have paid off.

So, now what?

When I first joined CatholicMatch, I was surprised and somewhat hurt not to even garner a profile view from potential matches that I sent emotigrams and messages to. Looking back, I wonder if these members were on the road to exclusive relationships and were consciously choosing not to respond out of respect for their new interest.

I totally understand this frame of thought, as I, too, was wondering what to do about my membership. I don’t want to be rude by not responding to great people, but I’ve reached the point with someone else where I want to explore our relationship exclusively.

I checked out the frequently asked questions section on CatholicMatch to see if there was an answer to this predicament, and there was!

Your profile status enables you to let other members know your relationship availability or that you will be away from the site for a period of time. To select one of the following options:

  • Go to your Profile page
  • Select “More Options” found on the upper right-hand portion of the page
  • Click on the “Change profile status” link
  • Check off your choice.

I immediately changed my profile status to “In a Relationship,” and I felt relieved knowing that others who came across my profile will not be offended by my lack of response.

Even if you’re not entering an exclusive relationship, you may have other reasons for changing your profile status. You may be going on vacation or choosing to spend a season searching for friendship only. I encourage you to view the profile status options and carefully choose the one that is most appropriate for you.

CatholicMatchers, never lose faith in the possibility that everything you’ve ever searched for is only one profile view away.

Okay, I can maybe see how this might be a respectable option, but there is also an “Engaged” status. Why on earth would someone who is engaged remain on a dating website?!

I hope I will have success like that. LOL I like the way this site is set up.

Helpful, as I have just logged on as a member a day ago. I have not paid the subscription because I am currently going through interviews for work. I have not landed one yet. but I am wondering about the fellows that look and send e-mails and I can not answer their questions because I have not subscribed. I would not mind a volunteer to pay four weeks subscription and I would pay them back graciously. I just do not know if the nice fellows will stick around for me to be able to get this together. I signed up but I really did not think anyone would pay attention to my profile. I am very surprised and I am pleasantly surprised. LIN-799525
