The holidays are a time for celebration, but this season can make being divorced seem so lonely. If you are feeling this way, it’s completely understandable. You’ve been through a lot and it can be quite difficult to put a smile on your face and celebrate.
One of the best ways to combat loneliness is to visit with others. Visiting the sick in hospitals or spending time at a nursing home are good ideas. Often times the sick and elderly are your own family members, but visiting them can be difficult if you know the conversations you’ll have can dredge up painful memories that you’d prefer to avoid.
In this case, there is one person you can visit who is lonely, too. One who understands everything you are going through… Jesus, in the Blessed Sacrament.
Jesus is present in tabernacles and in adoration chapels everywhere, waiting for you to come visit with Him. He, like you, is vulnerable. He, like you, has suffered. He is the best Counselor, Friend, and Healer you will ever encounter. And the only reason He waits is because He wants to see you.
The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is majestic! (Psalm 29:4)
