5 Easy Ways to Improve Your Online Profile

Online Dating Profile Tips

For single Catholics, it is important to be able to search an online dating site for people who have similar interests and values.

The snapshot of a profile and a few email exchanges or phone calls not only eliminates first date worries, but can be a valuable indicator of how successful and enjoyable a first date might be.

An online profile is the other members’ first glimpse into your lifestyle and personality. So it is important to describe your interests and best qualities so they can get to know the real you.

Here are a few quick tips to improve your profile and make sure your true personality shines:

1. Be thoughtful and thorough.

Make sure you fill out everything, even if the section is optional. A full profile shows that you put effort into it, and it gives your potential mate more information about you.

2.Make the first sentence count.

You don’t want your profile to sound like everyone else’s — so be sure it doesn’t. If the information you are including is obvious by your photo or general stats (age, race, location, or gender), eliminate it. If it isn’t in descriptive and concrete language, revise it.

3. Be yourself.

When writing about yourself, be specific, honest, enticing, and optimistic. Tell the other singles who you are and what matters to you in life. The more authentic you can be in your profile, the more likely you are to converse with other genuine members.

4. Proofread, proofread, proofread.

Ask a trusted friend to read through your profile to make sure there are no typos or grammatical errors.

5. Be clear about who you are seeking.

If you decide to include a seeking description, lay out a clear portrait of what you are looking for, but don’t be too restrictive or sound like you are looking for a perfect person — just the perfect person for you. Some examples could include: easy going, humorous, active, patient, encouraging, and commitment to the faith. Again, make sure it’s not a checklist, but a summary of guiding principles.

Hi all you Carols, and others! Since I’m also new at all this , I too have not put up a picture yet.Working on how to do it.Im not photogenic ,I think, but I’m positive thinking in this instance that it’s good policy to put one up ! Okay, however, on the other hand , some excitement is involved in all this not seeing a picture, and wondering . Isn’t it ? One isn’t really suppose to be taken up by appearances ,but ,by whats inside that person .So many of us want someone geogeous on our arm. ( I. don’t believe Im drop dead gorgeous ,but I make a good apparence and have been told I look classey .But I’m adaptable and have a good heart ,a very kind heart .I don’t know if my first time profile is a good one ? And I don’t want to appear Im something , Im not ? This is all hard ,I need to pray more,to get answers . So many guys look and sound great ,in their profile, and I’m glad we have some interviews comments and such so it helps if we want to continue. I wish you all a Blessed experience ! CAROLE

I really haven’t had much luck conversing on this site. I tried to be open and honest and have messaged a few gentlemen but have had few responses. I had my daughter look at my profile and she thought it was fine. I am wondering if I am going about this wrong.

This article needs to be displayed where each” New Member” will see it, encouraging them to put in more than just the bare basics.

I’ve taught myself by googling what I want to learn. As long as you have a computer and a camera (and the proper cords), you can learn. Also, does your local library have any courses? What about kids and grand kids?

I would love to join but I have a big problem. I do not have a way to put a picture on the site. I have no cell phone or camera. I could get a camera but I would not know how to put a picture from it on the site.
I am 74 and widowed Catholic soon to be two years now. I have no kids so would love to find someone to have fun with and someone who takes his faith seriously. I am very healthy and would like some who is active and healthy and likes to laugh and and tease and just enjoy life.

Carol I am a 68 year old widow and will have to find a way to put my picture on this site. I did sign up, but I think without my picture no one will be able to check my profile. I did find 1 match in my home town, but I haven’t heard anything back from him. I pray We both find what God has planned for us.Thank you for your comment.

No, this is not mass, so very far from it, but it is a website called Catholicmatch.com. Maybe we should act like it is just that, not match.com.
Oh and thank you for the advice, Ms. K, it was great for meeting people online. Our Faith was mentioned, with four words in your blog; “commitment to the faith”. In my very humble and Ignorant opinion, it should have been mentioned much, much more.

If more of the profile were searchable, it would be a big help.

I feel too many people decide in 1 second which is painfully shallow. And it’s not just because a look might not be liked, the certain look may say something to the seeker that he/she can’t be trusted or too pretty/handsome to stay and not wander to other lovers. I believe the opposite is true. Most people whom are very attractive dealt with these types of prejudices their entire life but on the inside are looking for that true love like everybody else. I’ve known 100,000’s people in my lifetime (cause of employment) and the ones whom you think are or will be faithful are the biggest cheats I ever seen. Nothing is clear as black/white but some people still believe life has certain things that are crystal clear but I’m here to tell you types-“you’re wrong”
