I am self employed. After work I enjoy going to the gym to work out. I feel that keeping your body in shape goes along with staying in shape both spiritually and mentally. I like to get together with friends for dinner, or an occasional drink. I am definitely an outside person. I want to be outside when the weather is warm, whether it's doing yardwork or going to the beach. On the otherhand, just kicking back watching a good movie can be just as fulfilling. I love all kinds of music, except real country music, and meeting new people. I'm also an animal lover. If you don't like my dog, then you won't like me - ha. That's a little bit about me. We shouldn't give away too much at first - right???

What I love most is Jesus and my family. Four years ago my husband died suddenly and since then my whole world has changed. It is truly hard to go from having someone to love and being loved back to that all being gone except in ones heart & memories. It has been difficult to recover from only it has not been impossible. I have moved on and actually am very happy and thankful. I have two grown children - 1 married with 3 little girls and one little boy and 1 single. Even though I live with the married one I am financially independent. When she is tudoring I watch my granddaughters - 6 yrs., 4 yrs., 2 yr., and grandson - 1 year. I am looking forward to beginning again. In my life, I have been blessed with so many people of wisdom that played a part in me being the person I am. Most were family. I have two close friends who are especially good at agape love which inspires me daily. I enjoy going to the gym, walks, moderate hikes, movies, eating out & cooking at home, working at the church, spur of the moments, communication, honesty, new things, adoration, etc. It is a new beginning for me to have leisure time so I am feeling my way slowly through this part of my life. Working out well so far.

I am a cradle Catholic with 12 years of parochial school under my belt, and proud to be a woman with a deep love of God, the Virgin Mary, the Saints, and the Martyrs. But I am also a thinking praying woman who doesn't always buy into all the dogma. For example, I believe individuals must wrestle with their own consciences and, if they've come to peace after that, for the most part who am I to judge? I also believe in Purgatory and the afterlife, but not that admittance to Heaven is limited to baptized Christians. The God I revere is larger than that. My goal every day is to look in the mirror without shame before retiring, knowing that I have wronged no one in thought or deed ,and may even have helped some. I am 64 yo, one daughter in the neighborhood; and 5 brothers scattered around the country. My Mother and Father each passed while under my care (my Mom under my own roof) and I trust they are now with my only sister who passed first, at a young adult age. Although I have scaled back some since becoming newly-single, I volunteer for dog rescue and love animals of all kinds. I have two dogs, one cat, and three birds in residence with me now. I enjoy going to the theater (especially musicals), street festivals of any kind, dining out, reading, card-playing, and warm conversation. I am not athletic in an organized sports fashion, but I walk 2-3 miles every day and love to swim. I'm of average height, build, weight, wrinkles, and sags. Above-average intelligence. Starting to think I may have some hearing loss developing, as I find myself saying "I'm sorry, could you repeat that?" more and more often lately. I have been married twice - from 1972 to 1985, and from 2001 to 2013.

I draw strength from my faith, family, and friends. I especially love children and adolescents of all ages and was blessed by my work as an elementary, middle, and high school counselor before retiring in 2013. I have also been the owner of a small business, which presented unique challenges! Currently, I volunteer with Hand in Paw, an non-profit organization that provides animal-assisted therapy in many diverse settings. I also serve on the service team of the Mary, Woman of Faith Chapter of Magnificat in Birmingham. Magnificat is an international ministry to Catholic women. I always have a book on hand and am either reading or listening to a book each day.

Joi de Vivre person who is genuine, caring, devoted to God, family and country. Love to cook with a similar minded partner even entertain guests and try new recipes and wines to accompany. Like to remain active physically, mentally and spiritually with various activities such as life-long learning and exploring what is around the next bend. Love well-behaved canines and mission-oriented training, the human/canine bond that comes with it and unconditional love. I am open minded yet the ENTF intuition trumps some tough situations and I have seen much of that in work and life. I have been called driven in some cases - I like to learn, have a mission of sorts and never have a dull moment as I can always find a challenge such as a home or garden project or planning a new adventure. I love to make order from chaos and learn about people and processes along the way. Seeking: Similar minded faith and values gentleman, at least 6 ft tall; clean cut in appearance, (beard is fine); creative mind and challenging intellect who is active and youthful of similar age + or- a few years of my 61 years young. Someone who loves to cook, explore new recipes/foods/countries and of course, dogs. Being honest and genuine while open about expectations is most appreciated as is a slow, steady friendship first. Chemistry is important as are all the above qualities and characteristics. I am in no hurry. I am Southern raised in NC yet educated in Virginia, Alaska, Florida and Alabama. I love the COLD not the hot humidity of our Bama summers! Bring on the snow and let me see my breath when on the trail with Belgian Malinois "Bella" as it is so refreshing. My honesty can be a detriment at times - no BS or games, ever. Guess that is my military training and upbringing jumping out. I may need some retraining to learn to slow down although I always take time to smell the roses.

Since I have retired I now have more time to really enjoy things that bring me happiness. Family, friends and travel. Life is good when all those can be combined together! Since it isn't practical to only be totally immersed in only those three, I also stay busy with volunteer work, gardening, helping a couple civic groups. I do like to stay busy most of the time. I have been exposed to many mentors in my life that have directed me to my current life and self awareness. This makes my volunteer work more of my way of giving back than just a hobby or something to do. Religion has become an important part of my life and I give thanks for all the blessings I have in my like with my family, community, and capabilities to help others in my volunteer work. Prayer and faith has given me an island refuge in many years of turbulent times and transitions. For that I am grateful and thankful.
