I have recently retired and relocated to Santa Rosa. I am looking for a very special man to share my life with. I enjoy local events, concerts, exploring the small quaint towns in the area, walking, hiking, and trips to the beach, to name a few things that make me happy. I advocate for neglected and abused animals. I am a retired RN, so my nature is to help those in need. I am looking for a person who values his health, and takes care of himself, someone funny, witty, positive, and is looking for a best friend and soul mate. I look at this time in my life as the best part, and I desire God's choice for me in a mate. If you value God and Church, family and home, and desire a happy and solid relationship, let's get to know each other!

I must confess that I am a hopeless romantic. I am passionate about my faith and my family. I have two adult daughters and four grandsons.Teaching has been my true vocation and it has meant so much to me. I am fortunate because of business interests to be financially independent. I love traveling especially to the seashore. I am happy reading, swimming, tennis, walking, cooking and researching family history. I am happy using my imagination, exploring, and solving mysteries. I enjoy opposites! I can go to a hotdog stand one day and dress in a tux the next. I can be very social or spend silent time in a monastery.

I look forward to new experiences (location, people, food, cultures) through travel. I like to hike, garden, snowshoe and sing. My family and friends are very important to me. Before retirement, my work was my other passionate. I worked in cancer surveillance and continue to be in contact with my former colleagues. I continue to grow spiritually through daily meditation, participate in parish activities and pilgrimages. I am avid in trying to keep a healthy lifestyle through exercise, diet and drinking alcohol in moderation. I travel to learn as well as to visit friends and family.

I have just begun a new academic project as a Jurisprudence Doctorate student in Law. My background includes classical dance & music, with a Masters Degree in Entertainment Business. I am very close to my adult daughter and her husband, not to mention my Great Dane, who was a rescue. I converted to Catholicism about 10 years ago because in this crazy world, it seems the Catholics have figured out that evil exists and what to do about it. I am recovering from shingles which came as a shock because I enjoy excellent health having danced almost every day of my youth. I enjoy mysteries, especially Sherlock Holmes, classic movies and music. I don't have leisure time because my mother insisted if a person was bored it was their own fault. I take commissions for costumes or creative sewing projects.

I love to cook, I like hiking and music of most kinds, and I enjoy films. I am interested in philosophy and yet being silly too. I like research on the computer, but I am not the techie type. I enjoy fashion and art and junk-tique shopping. There is not much I do not like. As far as influences, I would have to say that living through the ups and downs of my own life, has taught me the most. I trust my instincts as to whether people are good or not. It is important to me that I contribute to others through my work.

What I am passionate about is animal rights, and so, of course, many of my charitable contributions go to organizations that protect animals - from us humans mostly. Lei Lei is my rescue dog and we share each other's worlds. I have a small home and dear friends, not all of whom are Catholic, but they are kind and care for their families dearly. My mentors are almost all gone now, but there was one who was a brilliant scientist and who hired me to work in her genetics lab. From there my life took a dramatic turn for the better - but we can talk about that sometime. I love to read, and write, and stay close to home. Thus, I realize I sound like a dull person. I don't think I am, but who knows? I would love to travel again, but do not want to travel alone so I look forward to learning about you - especially if you like the simple things in life.

I am a 5th generation Californian ending a career in the law. A graduate of Notre Dame, I have 3 adult offspring who are close to me but who live out of state. All are financially independent, as am I. At present I divide my time between Northern California and the Yucatan. In the next few decades of my life I plan to fulfill a long held dream of creating a non-profit which will export into 3rd and 4th world countries some of the vast reserve of talent, treasure and goodwill that exists in the lives of American Catholics, especially those who formed during their social consciences in the 60s and 70s. The geographic center of my soul just might be the Abbey of Gethsemani in Kentucky. Last year I read Masters of War, a history of the US in Latin America, David Brooks' the Road to Character, A History of Indigenous People's of America, The Season of the Witch, and Paul Ellie's work "The life you save might be your own" about Flannery O'Conner, Dorothy Day, Thomas Merton, and Walker Percy. My politics are left/center; my heroes tend to be creative souls who recognize we humans are alive as part of a continuum of forces in the universe which we can either advance toward the beloved community or retard by our nonchalance. I love to eat, drink (moderately) and be merry. As a former university level athlete, my recreation tends toward the athletic, but I also play classical piano, and enjoy festive meals with friends in great conversation. I am blessed with a large and interesting family, and have been lucky to have traveled extensively, both domestically and abroad
