  • William, 61 from Oakland, CA
    61, Oakland, CA
I am named after my father William Daniel English, whom I lost to a brain hemorrhage when I was six. Growing up without him made me more introspective as I grew up. My mother later put me in the Boy Scouts and I came out of my shell while learning and growing to be a young man. My parish priest was a great help along the way as well just by being younger and kinder. Growing up in the sixties produced many examples to follow and even more to morn the loss of. I understood that I should be a positive leader, and peace maker in whatever way I could as well as do my best in whatever I attempted. I studied music and play the oboe and clarinet. I also ran track, cross country and played soccer. I still play soccer to this day and follow the sport world wide.

I love the simple life - the sublime joys and pleasures that naturally arise from living a life in accordance with God's will. Daily prayer & communion, service and work, love, laughter and holy companionship are all that I seek. For leisure, I enjoy Catholic radio & television, classical music, quiet dinners at home, holy conversation and leisurely walks & bike rides. I also enjoy watching professional tennis and golf. I look forward to growing in holiness and virtue. The most influential person in my life was my Aunt Jan, who recently passed. Like Our Blessed Lady, she was a model of true Christian Caritas. I am a recent Catholic convert and I love the Catholic Church, particularly the TLM. I also love animals, especially dogs!

Hello and thanks for viewing my profile. I'll start with my faith, which is an integral part of my life as I love being a Catholic and have been one since the cradle. I am a Eucharistic Minister, Lector and will join the Parish Council in the fall of 2016. I also help out with fundraising events and whatever else is needed. I belong to St. Leo the Great Church on Piedmont Ave. I retired on August 15, 2015, so having free time is new to me. I was blessed with having a very successful career in health care and have several good several friends who I keep in touch with. So now seems to be the perfect time to reach out and hopefully find someone to share my retirement life with. I have three sons: my youngest, who lives in Burlingame is single; my oldest son, who lives in San Diego is married with two children; and my middle son who lives in East Aurora, New York, is married and has two children. I see my youngest son weekly, usually for Sunday dinner and my other two sons usually 2-3 times per year. Of course I never mind visiting them in San Diego or New York. I really enjoy going to movies, watching sporting events, (Go Warriors), taking long walks, dining out or cooking healthful meals. I am in great health and work hard with diet and exercise to stay this way. I'll stop now and leave the rest for a phone conversation should the time come. Looking forward to hearing from you. Donna
