Orthodox, scholar, homebody. The main thing that I want from life is to work out my salvation, to which I think that married life can contribute. Next is to improve my intellect, to which I devote as much effort as I can, especially through reading. My intellectual activity includes my career: I am a teacher in a Catholic high school and an adjunct professor at NYU. My jobs, therefore, are not just for earning; they are a "life-work" (to borrow a phrase from Tolkien), as I go further along the path of intellectual achievement and take others with me. On a daily basis I get up and go to teach at the high school, where I often stay long after the end of the school-day because being a great teacher takes that extra effort; moreover, my commitment to doing my job well and improving every day, along with the personal satisfaction that comes from success, means that my work also takes on the nature of a very intense hobby. Accordingly the investment of time and effort that I put into my work, far beyond the minimum requirements, is similar to that which, for example, I observe my brother making on training for triathlons and marathons. On Tuesdays I go to New York and teach an evening class at NYU. On most evenings and weekends I seek the comfort of my home, especially settling myself in my library to read, or I enjoy the company of those people whom I have consciously chosen to include in my life. The number of such people is quite small--mostly family (including some cousins), a few long-time friends, and some of my colleagues--but I opt for quality over quantity in terms of my social circle. The activities that I enjoy with these people include watching movies, playing games, and simply having great conversations. I take seriously my citizenship in these United States, and with regard to politics I affirm the principles that Cardinal Ratzinger explained in 2004 in a letter on worthiness to receive Holy Communion. In terms of health my main goal is to stay trim. I value culture, by which I mean civilized culture, and so I try to avoid the more vulgar aspects of popular culture. I don't go clubbing, but I do like waltz and polka. I am not at all materialistic, and my aunt once called me "no-maintenance". Finally, if I may say so, I have a good sense of humor, which can vary from sarcastic to corny, and I can laugh at my idiosyncrasies.

UPDATED:. I am a quiet person with a dry sense of humor who appears serious at first but when I get to know people I can be outgoing and like to make people laugh. I like calm in my life and hate confrontations. I love the ocean and mountains because the scenery give me such a sense of relaxation. All I have to do is smell the salt air, see a lake or look at craggy mountain tops and I can feel the tension leave me. Unfortunately, I get sea sick just watching boats bobbing up and down at a dock. I've taken 3 cruises and loved them so the patch behind my ear helps me get through gale force winds! There's still a lot of the USA I would like to explore also. I do love to travel within my means. I occasionally substitute as a secretary within the public education departments in town and babysit my grandchildren. I have 2 daughters,a son-in-law and 2 grandchildren who live in the area. In my spare time if I'm not reading or enjoying bird songs on the back deck I like to knit or crochet scarves & hats for needy children.

Worked in television for over a decade then left to go to paramedic school. I don't camp, did it as a Boy (Eagle) Scout. I grew up on the water so as much as I like beaches I know their drawbacks. I believe the National Parks system is one of our greatest resources. I like helping people and want to make a difference.

  • Patricia E, 64 from Bristol, CT
    64, Bristol, CT
As a former Medical Technologist, I am passionate about all things medical. That and medical marketing filled my very interesting career. Intertwined with that was a marriage and three wonderful, healthy children! That began my second passion. Raising them in the Church as well in secular life was paramount to me ! They became the most wonderful teens and young adults; always selecting great friends that reflected their up-bringing. For this I am always grateful. They and I were active in soccer and gymnastics and I taught Religious ED. I am currently working part time in a cafe/restaurant and enjoy the work interacting with the people; both employees and guests. My interests include cooking, working out(though not strenuously) and spending my time with my family. I am outgoing, enjoy good conversations on any topic and not afraid to express my opinion. I am pet-friendly, both dogs and cats. It took me a long time to get over my divorce because of what transpired during the marriage. I sought a nullification immediately because I believed the Church would agree the contract of marriage was flawed. June of last year it was granted. I am now ready to move on. I am seeking a relationship with someone with strong faith, strong family ties, and a desire for a serious relationship hopefully leading to marriage.

Hi, my name is Taylor and I'm 25 years old. I'm a Catholic from birth, but it was my Confirmation retreat 10 years ago that really made my faith the center of my life. I love Christian Rock music, including going to concerts, watching sports, live and on tv, watching primetime dramas (my favorite is still the West Wing), traveling, including visiting historical sites, and watching documentaries.
