Doing meaningful work is very important to me, although I also believe in achieving a healthy balance between work and home. Since law school, I have been a civil legal services lawyer, representing people who are poor and/or with disabilities. The last several years, I've been teaching full-time at an area law school and have found the students to be completely re-energizing. I'm happy to be back in the District and working on health policy issues at a non-profit. Having grown up on a family-owned and operated truck farm, I also have an interest in land use issues. One of the most rewarding things to happen in the past year for me has been seeing my parents be able to transfer the development rights on their farm so that the land will be permanent open space. I have a large extended family, whom I see often, and I'm very grateful to have family and friends close by. My friends describe me as sensitive, caring, and loyal. Although I do litigation (there is plenty that calls for extraversion there) and can talk for hours with close friends, I can be quiet and reserved with people whom I do not know well. I'm not really a pet person and tend to be allergic. A word about my divorce: I took the vows I made very seriously, and honestly never thought that I'd be divorced. The short story is that one day, he simply did not come home. I can talk about what happened but at the same time do not feel that I need to. I do feel that I have healed and am ready for a relationship. This all happened several years ago, so it is very much in the past, and I have had relationships since, although I am still seeking the right person for the longer term.

I like to help around the church. I like some sport events. I would like to travel. I like to help and be with around people of different cultural backgrounds than myself.

Really just looking for a nice person who can accept me for who I am and is open to whatever connection is there - as a friend, a long term companion, or somebody I exchanged a few words with.

I'm a laid back, fun, intellectual person. I like baking, love dogs, love water- any piers, beaches, pools, love dancing. I am a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist working with children and families in an underserved area and I'm very grateful that I get to do a job I really enjoy. In my spare time, I'm usually listening to music or visiting my favorite websites. I enjoy a good book every now and then. I recently re ignited my Catholic faith and I plan on going to church more often.

Growing up in a small town with limited possibilities can be a struggle at times, but out here we make it work! I was born and raised an American Catholic and am very committed to the church and her teachings!
  • San, 42 from Washington, DC
    42, Washington, DC
I love cooking, fishing and spending time outdoors at the lake or seaside. My dad, he has shown me how to be strong and full of life. I am passionate about love, family and God the glue that binds it all together. I believe in my faith it is what keeps me going daily but I am not someone who tries to prove to others that I am of the faith. My relationship with God is one felt deep within my soul a peace that just know and feels and does not need to run around with a poster saying I love the lord.

Hi, I'm Ruben! I recently became a fully licensed attorney and am working hard to make a difference in our legal landscape. I spent years working for an international human/labor rights non-profit and am still passionate about those issues and try to stay involved from the legal side however I can. In my leisure time, I enjoy relaxing with friends, going for runs, and watching good movies.

  • Alexandra, 50 from Washington, DC

I am described to be loving, kind, sensitive, caring, diligent and I will say that I am not scared to share my most intimate desires with that special someone. Though I am not perfect, I try to be upright, live each day as it comes and constantly trying to improve myself because life is about constant self improvement. I have a silly, witty but also serious part of me. I love to work hard but also play had if you know what I mean.
