  • Susan, 60 from Crystal Lake, IL
    60, Crystal Lake, IL
I was born and raised in a traditional Catholic home. I attended both Catholic elementary and high school. I have a very strong faith and attend Mass weekly and worship in the adoration chapel at least once a week. I am a college professor of communications and love what I do. I have taught higher education for the past 25 years. My goal in life is to make a difference. I believe that touching one person's life can make a difference. I like to believe that I do as a teacher. I love the outdoors and nature. I like to stay active and physically fit. I enjoy walking in the mornings and sometimes seeing the sun come up or taking a stroll and watching the sun set; bicycling along the lake shore or a bicycle path I would consider myself more of an extrovert than introvert, although I do like time alone to think and reflect. I am outgoing, friendly, honest, and genuinely love life. I am a hopeless romantic who still believes that true love exists and that one can find a soulmate. Family is very important to me. I enjoy intelligent conversations, spending time with friends, meeting new people, concerts, movies, and a good book. I am very organized and tend to plan things, but I am learning to be more spontaneous. One of my dreams is to travel and see new places. I would like to take a trip to Rome and see the Vatican and Assisi. I also want to take a ride in a gondola. Australia and Greece also introque me.

My name is Jim. I'm a single, white male, 59 years old. . Grew up in near western suburbs, third of four siblings. My Mom was from Chicago's south side, Dad from River Forest. We were raised with traditional values; Dad worked, Mom stayed at home. Aunts, Uncles, cousins lived closeby in Oak Park and River Forest. Dad enjoyed tennis, jogging, golf. He got the children involved in football, basketball, baseball. Mom emphasized education and getting along. We enjoyed great summer vacations outside Michigan City, IN along Lake Michigan( swimming, baseball, tennis). I was average in most sports except golf. My game improved enough to make the high school golf team the last three years. It was competitive but I worked hard and gradually lowered my scores. Unfortunately, I had an average senior year. And for certain reasons. I stopped playing in college and beyond for about 20 years. With friends, I've picked golf back up again. I still love playing but time is limited. My parents and relatives have been the most influential in my life. My father modeled a solid work ethic and he was home for dinner every night. I mentioned that he got us involved in athletics and encouraged us to practice hard and listen to coaching. Athletics were a healthy outlet but could be stressful and disappointing at times. And so my mother was great emotional support growing up; sometimes I needed encouragement, other times correction. Some teachers also had a strong influence on me. I was blessed with committed and compassionate liberal arts teachers in high school and college. I also had 2 excellent foreign language teachers in high school.
  • Tom, 67 from Batavia, IL
    67, Batavia, IL
I lost my wife to breast cancer in March of 2009 after 34+ years of marriage, so I am a widower. I am a polish kid that comes from the south side of Chicago.I went to St. Michael grade school on 83rd and South Shore Drive. Like many of my male peers, I ended up in Vietnam. I managed to survive that experience and I am alive and well living in Batavia, IL. I am a retired telecom engineer and a hopeless geek with a capital G. I have a son who is an processor engineer with Apple Computer in Austin TX.. He presently has 10 microprocessors that he designed floating some where in space from his work in the Physics department at the University of Iowa. My late wife and I were guardians to my nephew Micheal. He is the son of my late sister Nancy. He is presently a software engineer working at the Cerner Corp. in Kansas city, Kansas. He is an up and coming shining star. I am equally proud of him. I like to grow my beard longer during the Christmas season. It is amazing what happens when I look down on a child acting badly in a store and say one magic word "naughty". I have great neighbors and I always make an effort to stop and chat with them every chance I get. I like to watch cooking shows and listen to music. I am adventurous, I like to try new things. I also like to garden. I plant a vegetable garden every year and end up giving away a fair portion of my crop. I have also learned how to bake some kick butt artisan bread. When I was in the Army I held the highest security clearance one could hold. That coupled with the fact that I am engineer, makes me painfully honest at times. So don't ask me a question that you do not want answered honestly.

I enjoy my family, friends , music, sports , exercise and really enjoy cooking for while entertaining, those that are near and dear to me. The outdoors, travel, reading, domestic animals, wild game, fishing, the ocean, scuba, lakes, and spearfishing are my pastimes. My passion is writing ..and reading quality reads that provide inspiration. Having published two books soon my hope is to publish number three. Having adult children who are amazing is really fulfilling, as are my grandchildren. At this point in my life it would be a great joy to meet someone who is interesting while inspiring... who has the freedom to adventure and loves the outdoors. The sharing of a wonderful relationship is a powerful inspiration to both parties. Further it's a known medical fact that health, happiness, inspiration, and longevity are further enhanced by a healthy relationship. Having a worldly background and being well traveled, you will find me to be; intelligent, gregarious, adventuesome, appreciative, romantic, humorous, affectionate, sophisticated yet very approachable and down to earth...a regular guy. I enjoy a healthy lifestyle but on occasion smoke a pipe while outdoors. If you enjoy a man who's as comfortable in a pair of jeans as he is in a your guy. If you enjoy the outdoors or camping as much as you enjoy the pampering of a hotel ...we may want to meet. If you like : Music, theatre, art, conversation, dining, the movies, motorcycling, cooking, massage and a great evening at home with a person of substance ...they all work for me and hopefully for you. How about you tell me about yourself and lets see if we can become acquainted.

Hi, Thanks for stopping and reading this. I am looking for a friend first, someone to laugh with, talk with and maybe spend the rest of my life with. • Sharon, 68 from Oregon, IL
    68, Oregon, IL
I have been widowed for 4 years and find that something is missing in my life. My Catholic faith is very important to me. I lector at daily mass and am a scheduled lector for weekend masses as well. My family consisting of an adult son and daughter in law as well as 4 grandchildren are very important. I also have a daughter, however things are not good with her at the present time. I do get to see her 2 daughters occasionally. I have a Sunday night tradition of dinner every Sunday and the whole family is invited and come regularly. I would have to say that the AlAnon program has had the most influence on my life, taught me to trust in my higher power whom I chose to call God and to accept things, and people that I can not change. I was married for 44 years to my high school sweet heart and it was thru him I got involved in Alanon. We had a very good marriage and although he did not regularly attend Mass I know in my heart that he believed. It was because of him that I became a Catholic convert. My leisure time is spent reading, spending time with my dogs and of course spending time with my son and his family. I enjoy going to the Rockford Ice Hogs games, high school football games, and any program that my grandchildren are involved in. Recently I have rejoined Weight Watchers and can happily say that I have lost 12 pounds. I have booked a Disney Cruise for January 2017 and that is what I am focusing on getting to goal and being more active.

I'm a professional woman , but love my family and home and want to spend the time I have left giving back and looking after others . I want to enjoy the beauty of the world and nurture goodness and kindness in everyone. I love the quiet and peace of the woods and the ocean, the glory of a sunrise and the simple fire to enjoy the stars by. I want life to be simple and Yet full of joy and not put off all the good things that need to be done until tomorrow. To live in the presence of today and be happy.

I am looking forward to sharing the next chapter of my life with a compassionate, loyal mate. I enjoy outdoor activities but I'm just as happy cooking dinner at home and spending a quiet evening watching a movie. I am a former teacher who now runs her own business in the insurance field

Exercise, rest, travel, visit children/grandchildren and of course the internet. I simply wonder how we lived without the internet for so many years. And yes, there was what was called DARPANET and INSTANET but ease-of-use, forget it. It took forever to learn how to use the system. I am an inventor, AUTHOR, father of 3 children and grandfather of four-of-a-kind, all girls.
  • Kathleen, 72 from Lake Villa, IL
    72, Lake Villa, IL
I enjoy being retired. I like painting, playing my piano, walking my little shelter dog and visiting with my four children and their kids. I also enjoy volunteering at my community center. I bought a little house near the lake and across the street from a forest preserve; it's very quiet and a beautiful place to walk my dog.

Whatever I do I am passionate! I volunteer a lot. I have horses, dogs and cats. I am allergic to smoke. I would like to travel, I have not done a lot of that and would love to start. I rode my bike quite a bit this summer, I have a fitbit and am trying to stay healthy. Working on it! I have a great sense of humor. Love to laugh.
