I love life and am very engaged in the important questions touching our lives in our culture today. I pay attention to and appreciate the subjective approach to understanding one's own life and how to live it. I'm a pretty avid reader of non-fiction books and have recently read Rules for Radicals, Change Agents, God: The Evidence, among others. I am a very physically active person and enjoy exercising at least 5 days a week. I've always been involved in sports since I was a young child. Now, I focus on staying in good condition because health is very important to me. I had a health scare a few years ago that has made me much more conscious than I was before.

I enjoy anime, manga, video games, coffee, travelling, photography and I'm looking for someone with the similar hobbies whom I can grow in faith in as well. I usually prefer a quiet night in to a loud night out, and hanging out with close friends and family. Travelling around the U.S. and the world have been some of my fondest memories from when I was younger, and now I'm at a point in my career where I'm comfortable travelling more. I just got back from a trip to Japan where I saw Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka, and had the time of my life! I'm already thinking of my next trip, hopefully to Rome! Planning my next my trip, seeing other countries, and learning about their culture has been a really eye-opening experience for me, and I'd like the chance to share this with someone who's passionate about travelling too. Being busy at work for a while has taught me to be more proactive with my free-time. So whether it's travelling around the world and taking a ton of photos, going to another anime convention, or even just relaxing at home and enjoying a night-in playing games/marathoning a TV series, I'd love to meet someone who's looking to enjoy it with me!

If I had to name a passion, it'd be anything related to the Spanish language...hearing it, speaking it, reading it, singing it (well, singing *along* with it on the radio). In general, I'm passionate about learning & am a bit of a "liberal arts junkie"...really love to learn about people, places, cultures, language/words, food, faith, history, art...naturally curious, in both the academic & experiential sense. I'm lucky to be working in an international office in a university where I can sorta "swim" in that curiosity, in both those senses. If you asked my friends to describe me, they'd probably say things like I'm perceptive, caring, a genuine and spiritual person, who's smart and funny (and doesn't always trust herself as much as she ought to). One of my outlets, both physical & mental, is going for a jog along the lakefront (& often snapping photos of things that catch my eye). Apart from jogging alongside it, I love just being by the water, even if/when it's frozen solid in February. I also really enjoy (& value) meeting up with friends for a meal...there's almost always a new place to try, something I love about the city, and more than that, food is just so much better when it's shared with good people & conversation. And I've got a soft spot for cultural events like the summer concerts in Millennium Park or flamenco at the Instituto Cervantes. If you asked me to name a few things I can't live without, on that list would be things like some time to myself each day to (just about any & all kinds)...the chance to be outdoors...relationships/friendships I can "rest" in...and a notebook/journal to write in. Some of the things I'm most thankful for are my family & how my parents raised us 4 faith & how it grounds me...all the opportunities I've had to learn by traveling, both here in the U.S. & abroad (especially the year I was in Spain for grad school...worth every cent of those loans). As a random side note, I'm from Arkansas, and when I get tired, mad, or really upset (or am on the phone with my family), the Southern drawl comes out :-)

I am very much interested in art. I majored in art education in college and taught art as well as literature for quite a few years. Catholic schools as well as public and a little bit of college (Wright).People who have influenced me are family, mostly as well as a few teachers who were encouraging. Some were nuns; some lay teachers. Leisure time enjoyment would involve tennis. I've been playing for quite a few years and still love it. Do you enjoy tennis? I also cycle when the weather is O.K. Right now I'm learning to improve my swimming a little. I'm pretty ugh about swimming skills but I haven't given up.

Recently relocated from Michigan and what I miss but look forward to is socializing with new friends. At this stage of my life I'm interested in companionship that hits on some of my activities (not necessarily in this order): walking, hiking, bicycling, reading, movies, dining out, sharing conversation (political or otherwise) and some travel. Recently retired from the medical field but still engage in part time work in the electrical department at The Home Depot (not for the money rather it keeps me more socially active). Don't currently have, but do appreciate pets.

I am passionate about faith, family and friends. Relationships are the most important aspect of our lives. I am a single mom with children who are almost grown, late high school and college. I am very active in my church and sing in an 80 voice choir. I love to garden and enjoy the outdoors. Travel is another interest of mine. My mother was most influential in my life. She was a very loving woman who raised four good Catholics.
