I'm not great at describing myself. I can be a little shy at first, but warm up to new people quickly. I'm looking for someone with a great sense of humor and similar interests and values to begin building a life with.

I'm very involved at church. I am a lector, altar server, Eucharistic minister, and cantor. My friends and family are very important to me, and I spend as much time with them as I can. I am currently working on a business management degree, with a concentration in sports. I spent the summer of 2016 in upstate New York umpiring summer college baseball. I'm trying my hardest to make this my career.

Good day! My name is Miles, and I am a 28 year old dude from the great state of Maine. I have recently (since college began) started truly trying to embrace my faith more fully. I pray the Rosary as often as possible, and practice morning and evening prayer along with immersing myself in the daily Scriptures. I attend mass weekly and on holy days. I try to attend Eucharistic adoration when I can but it's difficult with the travel necessary. I like to dance, sing and enjoy myself whenever possible, after all God gave us this life to enjoy and use our joy to bring Him praise, right? I love, love, love baseball. Everything about the sport is wonderful, from its history, to its rules to the fact there's no clock to the thought involved in playing. I consider baseball to be the best analogy to life and faith, and I treat it as such, as a player and youth coach. I sometimes find myself feeling like I belong in a past decade; the 40s and 50s strike me as the best fit. I love the fashion, music, culture, Americana and manly nature of those brave men. I like to think I'd fit right in. I love animals, but have a particularly soft spot for dogs and cannot wait to have my own pup some day. I currently teach Latin at a small, rural school in southwestern Maine. I love my job every day, and I love the people I work with.

I enjoy being part of the lives of others. I am a veteran with a partial disability, and am in the process of vocational rehabilitation to convert my Nuclear Engineering degree to a Master's Degree in Counseling. I donate time and funds to charities, and help other veterans get the benefits they deserve. I have been divorced for 18 years after a 12 year marriage. The most influential event in my life was bringing my parents back together for the last ten months of my mothers life. My leisure time is spent in communication with others, singing, and biking. I also just came home to the parish, and joined the choir for the third time.

I was born and raised in Maine. I'm a software developer and also a student working toward a graduate degree. I love music, being outdoors, sports and trying to learn everything there is to know. Looking for someone who's intelligent, kind and devoted to the Catholic faith. I'm actually pretty terrible at talking about myself. But, I guess a dating site is no place for modesty, so I came up with the following few phrases to describe myself: George Clooney-esque in appearance, incredibly charming, obscenely wealthy and an all-around outstanding human being. (Before you stop reading and move on to the next profile, please know that this is an attempt at humor.) I think of myself as a sincere, genuine person (with the exception of the last sentence of the previous paragraph). I can't imagine life without music. I used to play the saxophone, I have a guitar that mostly collects dust, and am currently attempting to become a drummer. I love stand-up comedy and laughing at people in general. I try my best to make other people laugh, but I'm also living proof that listening to comedians will not necessarily turn you into one (again, see my Clooney remarks above). I always try to understand everything about everything, which sometimes means that my version of a conversation is rapid-firing questions at people (I try to control myself and not overdo it). I'm a self-professed computer geek. I work as a software developer, and I'm also currently working towards an M.S. in Computer Science. Also recently, a few of my friends and I started a nonprofit to support community and economic development in the region of Maine that we're from. It's taken some time and effort, but is actually a lot of fun and hopefully will make a difference. So, between work, school and volunteering, I guess I keep myself busy enough to stay out of trouble. Finally, I love being outdoors. I grew up in the north woods of Maine, and the mountains and lakes were always a big part of my life. I actually don't get outdoors enough these days now that I'm in the booming metropolis of Portland, so I would love to find someone who likes hiking, kayaking, camping or doing anything outside. OK, that's the best I could do in 2500 characters or less, so feel free to send me a message if you'd like to chat!

Just a quick Hello for now. I am dubiously going forward with this effort to reach out, as well as put myself out there so others can do some reaching too! Yet here it goes, already sounding complicated!? Life! Right now in my life I am having to trust and wait like maybe never before. So I am a little heavy, perhaps a little too serious, but nobody does it much better than me ;) . I am traveling down this road with two heavy suitcases (better two than one I have always said), but my heart is full of hope for the travel part and my eyes are bright and full of cheer looking to see my rest. Remembering all the while that it is neither he who plants, nor he who waters, but The Lord who gives increase. Thanks for reading!
  • Jeff, 45 from Portland, ME
    45, Portland, ME
I am a person who loves a challenge, to learn new things, to play, laugh, and have good conversations. My experience as a university professor was one of my biggest challenges (fear of public speaking), but God showed me that teaching was where I would come alive and help the most people. I can honestly say I love going to work everyday, but I will put God and family first before work every time. When I am not at work I am usually with friends at the coffee shop drinking my favorite tea, laughing or crying over a good movie, singing in the choir or in the car, or discussing scripture with my local faith community. My favorite activity is weight training, but I like to learn new activities each year (I like to dance, but would need a patient partner). Sports and outdoor activities are passions of mine. I love watching and attending sporting events, but I would give up watching my favorite sporting event in an instance to spend time with that person who may be that person God has planned for me in marriage.

I have always live in Maine mostly near the Portland area. I've been an empty nester for some time with the exception of my very sweet dog.
