    I believe that the catholic church is the church set up by Christ himself and I enjoy talking to others about why I'm catholic. I didn't know why myself until I started to question everything in college. I met a really good priest that would give me books or tapes or explain teachings and the answers were so much better than I had expected. My sister's vocation to the Missionaries of Charity is one of the biggest graces from God in my life. I like to live simple like they do and I try to be joyful in everything as they are. I have two younger brothers, one is discerning priesthood in Belguim and the other is married with five kids (they just had twins). I have met some incredible people through pro-life groups and the last one recently appeared on EWTN to tell her story. She asked to record her music and then her story of how she was becoming catholic and also seeking forgiveness and healing from three former aboritons...God is so merciful!

  • Maron, 54 from Birmingham, AL
    {%action_menu%}
    54, Birmingham, AL
    Hi there, do you know who Ray Barone is (Everybody Loves Raymond)? Well, I am not him, but it is the best way to introduce my name- MARON. I am unique in many ways and think that my assets overwhelm as an, "'Is he for real' moment" if a survey was taken of me, 9.5 out of 10 who know me would describe me as funny and serious, intense and laid-back, shy and extroverted, cute and handsome. Very hard to pin down! Definitively though, I am passionate, compassionate, loving, happy, tender, giving, thoughtful, a tactile more than visual. If you can handle a man with mind of an American and the heart of a Lebanese, you should give me a shout out. If you want a man whose glass is 3/4 full, then you should give me a shout out. If you want a man who puts as much energy in his downtime as he does in his office, then you should give me a shout out. Transparency, trust, respect and loving yourself first are foundations that come from faith. I also believe that environment plays a role too. My parents celebrate their 59th anniversary this year and when I am home, I see the unspoken love they still have for each other. While I will never reach their longevity, I long to grow older with the quality of their marriage. Relaxing takes many forms for me. Whether it is relaxing in the mountains or home before a fire, on the beach, cooking together with movie night, grilling, tail-gating and football, entertaining friends, dancing til my heart races, sitting with a glass of wine working on a jigsaw puzzle together, giving foot and back rubs while reading together, I am all in.

  • Stephen, 50 from Rutledge, AL
    {%action_menu%}
    50, Rutledge, AL
    I was born down in the hollow in the Ozark hills where I lived on the farm for about 40 years. I now live in Alabama, but I go back to the Ozarks several times a year. I grew up working with my mother in the garden, playing in the creek, hunting and trapping in the woods, coursing bees, making sorghum, custom combining, building fence and hay barns. It was then that I traveled to Europe and when returning, learned to fly single engine airplanes, both land and sea. I weld and work on equipment in the shop, cut brush and firewood, make hay, manage a small herd of Brown Swiss dairy cattle here in southern Alabama. I raise and sell organic produce, have a couple ponies, some poultry and I like the work, it is rewarding! I also enjoy dutch oven cooking, canoeing, camping, aviation, horseback riding, singing harmony and playing the violin a little.

  • Joseph, 38 from New Market, AL

    38, New Market, AL
    Hello, my name is Joseph, and I am a bit of a workaholic. In my free time, I enjoy relaxing at home, watching movies and TV series via a popular streaming service that rhymes with 'pet tricks'. In addition, I play the occasional video game, especially those involving space and space exploration. Also, I am a hobby programmer. Finally, I also love just hanging out with my core group of friends, whether that be watching a movie or going bowling. I know this is a popular answer, but I believe that I am most inspired by my Dad. He is the quintessential Catholic Christian man: kind, loving, sacrificing, and a member of the Knights of Columbus. I have done my best to emulate his character. He taught me about what being a Catholic Man truly means. PS: Before anyone asks, I feel the need to explain my position on Contraception. I truly feel that I am in 90% agreement with the Catholic teaching on this topic. However, there is no middle ground when it comes to the question as asked, and I feel that this is shortchanging a difficult issue. I believe that the purpose of marriage is to be open to the transmission of life. However, in certain health related circumstances, the position on contraception may be waived. Mostly, for health reasons. For instance, a person becomes infected with HIV or another sexually transmitted disease through no fault of their own, be it via sexual assault or through tainted blood transfusions, etc. In this case, the spouse may also become infected. While contraceptives do not completely protect against the transmission of such diseases, they do provide some minimal level of protection. And that is why I answered "No" to the question.
