I'm a friendly kind of guy who is easy to get along with. Being positive about life and having a good sense of humor are qualities I possess and admire in others. I enjoy an enriching conversation, a beautiful spring, summer, or fall day in various natural settings shared with that special someone. My family (mom and four siblings) is important to me; we keep in communication and spend some quality time together during the summer at our vacation home in the mountains. I'm in good health and physically fit, have a keen intellect, an open heart, and a tenacious spirit - not a shallow person by any means. I'm an honest, affectionate, caring person who desires to share the best life has to offer with the right person. I have a wide variety of interests, which include walking or hiking through areas of natural beauty, dining in or out, delighting in the arts and music, and engaging in dancing and sports activities, especially swing dancing and golf! I prefer what is natural and simple, though I do enjoy some of the finer things in life. The best among these are what nature freely supplies - created beauty in the outdoors as well as in the depths of the human heart. I am interested in religion, spirituality, and psychology. My faith life as a Catholic nourishes my soul and sets a "North Star" on my moral compass. I try to see God's presence in my every day experiences. I would like to begin with a genuine compatibility and friendship, and with the right chemistry, interests, and values between us, I would hope that a romantic relationship, supported by true companionship and commitment, would develop.

Hi there! :) I routinely participate in patriotic events, one of my most favorite and rewarding is, during the week of Veterans Day, giving presentations in grammar and middle schools. The staff and students have been are wonderful!! In 2012 I had the honor to do five of them in Shelton, Newtown and Amity. I was a volunteer for "Swim across The Sound" for eight years, a Symphony on Ice volunteer for six years and have been a Special Olympics volunteer for thirty years. Do a litte volunteering for TEAM as well I am retired from the Navy as well as a position in engineering at Sikorsky Aircraft. I try to swim 13 laps each weekday energy is taken up in working on my house and yard which there never seems to be enough time for. I can fix most things.(getting to them might be the problem!) (Sorry if this sounds too much like a resume, but I believe it gives one a basic idea who I am.) Schools: City University, Bridgeport Engineering Institute, Many military technical, management and leadership schools. I enjoy spending time with people and am friendly, sensitive to others feelings, respectful, supportive of friends and family, witty, philosophical, humorous (puns are my forte) and down to earth. At this point in life I'm letting God drive (He always did anyway) and I'm taking my hands off the wheel (for the most part) :) There are a lot more things I would like to do but would enjoy the company of a nice lady in doing them... the restaurants, social events, days trips, site seeing, boat rides, wine by the fireplace and so forth. (I have the wine ,the fireplace and plenty of wood. :) I enjoy just about any wholesome activity. (Casinos and sports are not in my interest as well too much opulence- don't get me wrong, I like the Newport mansions.). I even enjoy shopping with a woman. (To me, that is part of having a lady in one's life!!) FYI, I have no immediate family but know many people who bring much joy into my life. I was brought up by wonderful, loving parents who I am eternally grateful for. My Dad treated my mother with respect, always opening the car door for her even when they just went shopping, and walking down the sidewalk on the outside . He was a good role model for me. I am traditional and believe in old time values. Currently reading "Rediscovering Catholicism". Thank you and wish you the very best! (PS: I return all respectful emails.)

I'm a retired journalist and college recruiter who spent summer 2016 on a 2-month service/ministry "retreat" in coastal Downeast Maine. I thrive on honest conversation and enjoy volunteering, poking around back-country roads, walking on the beach, attending minor-league baseball and hockey games, eating at out-of-the-way places, and visiting homemade-ice-cream shops (even though ice cream is "bad"). I try to walk a few miles several times a week at parks or the mall. My movie tastes run toward comedies because there's too much sadness in the world. I have 3 adult daughters (1 is married, with 3 kids, living hundreds of miles away). I'm down to earth (i.e., not super-sophisticated) and definitely not rich. I don't find fulfillment in constant high-energy activity although I'd like to try things my partner enjoys. I don't have pets (allergic to cats) and don't watch much TV. I'm not a good dancer; if you enjoy dancing you'll need patience with me but I'm willing to learn.

I'm not particularly good at talking about myself. I guess I'm somewhat lonely and joined this thing to see what's available out there... if it isn't glaringly apparent, I'm a complete novice at this thing.

My passion is family foremost, especially my children and grand child. I look forward to being with them but also to non-family social gatherings. The people that have been most influential in my life were my parents who were brought up in the North Shore of Chicago. I also have been greatly influenced by spending my early years in the suburbs of Chicago and in a small, fairly cosmopolitan town in south central Michigan. Add to that, my service in Viet Nam, my career in investment banking and travels throughout the World. I enjoy playing golf, cooking, working in the yard and doing a variety of diy's projects around the house. Being a graduate of Michigan State University, I also follow that school's various athletic teams and attend related events on a regular basis.
