*Currently discerning the contemplative religious life (9-10-15)* God bless! I come from a very large family - I'm the oldest of nine children, and while we have had the typical sibling issues occasionally, I would not change it for the world. There are many things in this world that I am passionate about, but the most important thing is Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I'm a very traditionally-minded person, and that shows in everything I do, from the tailoring business I run, to the music I enjoy, to the way I try to live my life in general. I'm sometimes a reserved, quiet person, especially in a new social situation. I prefer to listen and think rather than have a boisterous conversation. But to those who can draw me out, I can be very humorous, outgoing, and fun. The most influential people in my life have been my friends, whom in their own little ways, have each taught me something important about myself. I believe God sends people like this into our lives to help us further ourselves, if we have a mind to. In my leisure time, I love to play and teach music, read, watch a good classic movie, or learn a new skill or hobby. Woodworking is the latest hobby. Everything is culminating to the way I want to live my life in the future - hopefully on a small farm out in the country somewhere.

I'm a 22 year old navy brat from Virginia Beach currently serving in the Navy now here in Connecticut. In my free time I read, watch movies, and (when my schedule permits -- rarely these days) swim. I also used to play the piano when I was growing up and hope to get back into it some day. I like to joke around a lot and I try never to take myself seriously.

"There's no such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate clothing." - Sir Ranulph Fiennes. I'm an easy-going person that likes to stay busy, yet can be shy at first. I like my full time job that I've had for a few years. I also work hard out side of my job as last year I quit my part-time job, so I can enjoy life more, maybe travel more. I appreciate good grammar and drink green tea instead of coffee. I like to stay busy and active, doing such things as skiing, running, and bicycling. I just bought a house that needs work, so that is taking most of my time currently.

I've truly come to believe Christ's assurance that He wants to give us life in abundance. In Him, and in the years since my conversion, I have found more joy, excitement, laughter, and reasons to get choked up than I dreamt possible. My faith is the most important part of my life and I'm praying God to introduce me to a woman who wants to grow together in Jesus Christ. I'm looking for a partner and best friend who will be part of that three-person relationship with God. I'm also a fifth-year, high school history teacher and have worked at a summer camp for the past eight years. I love what I do. I get to work with kids and form meaningful relationships with them in our discussions about history. They've already made me want to be a father in many ways. Most of all, I am essentially paid to learn for a living, and this is what I am happy to say that I spend my time doing inside and outside of the classroom. When I'm not at work, I am learning about my faith, and my friends, and family as we spend time together. Aside from Christ, my relationships with the people in my life are my top priority. I choose my settings and relationships as carefully as I can, and the people who I keep close to me are loyal, live with integrity, and yet, are some of the craziest individuals I have ever met. They inspire me in more ways than I can share by typing. When I'm not hanging out with people (and sometimes when I am) I have a few hobbies. A few are road tripping on my Kawasaki, bee keeping, skeet shooting, reading Mark Twain and Tolkien, brewing kombucha, cooking, enjoying a good drink and a conversation with a friend, hiking, swimming, and trying things that I think might push me out of my comfort zone (usually good for some laughs and a healthy dose of humility). I'm also fairly involved in the Church, helping to lead a "Young Adult Group" for adults 18-35 years old.

I'm a Liberal Arts grad; I love to think. I spend my free time blogging about philosophy and reading. My dating philosophy is based on St. John Paul II's Theology of the Body (the actual texts, not what pundits make of it).

  • Noah, 21 from Vernon, CT
    21, Vernon, CT
I am passionate about my faith and about others. I have dreams of bringing up a family in the church and raising children. I am also passionate about my work and my pursuit of self-betterment. I would say my time at the University of Connecticut was the most influential period in my life. The Church on campus and the community that resided within really helped me to fall back in love with my faith. In my free time, I enjoy spending time outside, working on home improvement projects, or learning a new skill or hobby. I also like to play video games and watch movies on occasion.
  • Jared, 28 from Middletown, CT
    28, Middletown, CT
Hi there! I am a cradle Catholic who grew up with 4 siblings, some of which are pursuing priestly or religious vocations. My parents took my faith formation seriously, as do I, though I have had my falls and still have a long way to go. Looking for a companion on this crazy road we call life, one aiming for the same destination as me. My foundational interests are my faith, nature and the outdoors, music (especially classical, folk, and movie soundtracks), and reading. I play piano and am teaching myself composition. I am a pretty easy going guy...a bit more on the quiet side, but I do enjoy spending time with friends and family.
