*****UPDATE!*****I am a 55 year old male, and am employed. I will finish my college degree (hopefully in Linguistics) pretty soon. I live in NE Illinois. I currently work in Food Services at a hospital in NE Illinois, but hope to move into something more interesting. I'm thinking of Guest Services, Patient Advocate, or even Health Information. I'm also at a cross-roads. I've always wanted to write, and so I'm finally calling myself a "writer". In fact, I've determined that 2013 is the year I will finally get published! I love to be outdoors, walking (or hiking), cycling, and doing other things. I also love to be indoors watching TV, movies, reading, praying, listening to music, and many other things. I am looking into taking fencing lessons, too. It's something I've always wanted to learn, so, no time like the present! Unlike my previous update soooo many years ago, I'm looking for friendship, for sure, but also whatever the Good Lord has in store for me. If the right woman comes along, I should be open to exploring whatever comes from that.I have so many more interests that we can discuss.

I am an open minded person with a good sense of humor. I like to try and make people laugh. I enjoy THREE sports, baseball, hockey and football. I can cook an intimate, enjoyable meal for two or put together a large bash for 30. Give me the stove, a charcoal grill or a wood fire and I will feed you. When I am not working, I take time to do projects around the house. There is always something that catches my EYE, things that need to be taken care of or improved when owning a house. I try to remember to thank God for all that He has given to me in this life. I make a daily effort to stop AT the local adoration chapel even if only for a few minutes to give thanks. I try to LIVE my life and hope you will COMe and share this life with me. Thanks for taking time to carefully read my profile.

I am passionate about 1) Attending Mass each week and the ministries (Usher, Greeter and Eucharistic Minister) for which I volunteer. 2) My family: all 17 kids, 25 grandkids and 7 great grand kids. I enjoy being with them for all of the various family gatherings. 3) My vegetable garden and maintaining a nice yard for both the neighbors and myself. 4) The Knights of Columbus, I have been an officer since the day I joined 13 years ago. In 2014, I served on 34 Honor Guards. The most influential person in my life was my wife. We celebrated 50 years of marriage prior to her death in January 2011. I loved her a little more each day from the moment I first saw her. She was the joy of my life. She challenged me to be better and to do more. She supported me in all of our endeavors. We were there for each other in good times and those not so good. One desire of mine is to make other people smile, even strangers. I enjoy giving and receiving hugs. It is an important part of my social life. I am an excessive volunteer with an average of 25 hours per week. I want to remarry.

I believe each day is a Gift from God. The true joy of life is the trip. We need to relish the moment. Life is so very precious People get caught up in the burdens of the day and regrets over yesterday. This is the day which the Lord Hath made We will Rejoice and be glad in it.

My background is a little different. I grew up on a dairy farm in Wisconsin north of Milwaukee. I am a graduate of Marquette University with a B.S. in Business and an Accounting major. I am a retired C.P.A. and really enjoy that kind of work. I lead an active life style. I stay fit by gardening and doing my own yardwork. I have solid family values but also like to be playful and have a good sense of humor. I have 5 children who are all happily married and 14 grandchildren. I like to travel and have been to Alaska, Poland, Hungary, the Cech Republic, Chile and Germany. German is my second language. I have worked extensively in Europe in the financial area. I like to hunt and fish. I have gardened for many years and raise vegetables, peaches, pears, aspargus and black and red raspberries. My ideal spouse would be a practicing Catholic who attends mass on a weekly basis. She does not have to have the same opinions regarding contraception and sex. I would hope that she is a reasonably good cook since I am not. She should like to travel but also feel comfortable just enjoying a glass of wine by the fire. If she likes to garden, that is a plus. Since I am a gardener, I would hope that she would enjoy using the products of my garden. I am planning to down size my house and yard so that I can engage in other activities. I expect that my gardening activities will be reduced when this occurs. I like to engage in outdoor activities including fishing and hunting. If she likes outdoor activities, that is also a plus. Last but not least, I would hope that she is particular about her appearance and looks.

I have always had a lot of fun and meet some very interesting people. I pray hard....work hard...laugh even harder. I have a very electric, fun, witty, intriguing, extremely interesting, etc, personality. ( confident ) haha ...... I stay very active which includes racquetball, jogging, biking, golf, etc. Would hope some of the same is an interest to you. God does throw you a curve ball sometimes. And in my case, I was starting to think that it was the only pitch He knew....The answer is to be ready for it. I'd say the help I had from the Mercy Nuns ( Is that an oxymoron? ), Jesuit priest and the Marine Corps gave me the strength to get through those times. My Catholic faith is very important to me. Practice it daily. I'm a strong conservative and live my life accordingly : ) The two most important days in your life are... The day you were born and the day you find out why...... God Speed, Yea...I'm just a kid with a dream: )

"Simplicity is the last refuge of the complex", this Oscar Wilde quote has always resonated for me, no matter how philosophical, academic or opinionated I may be or become, given pause it will always reduce to the most basic and simple, time has taught me that patience, consideration, forgiveness, respect and a firm belief in redemption, allows me to view and enjoy every moment and experience, it invites humor and awe while deflecting indifference or dislike, all that being said I'm as flawed a soul as can be, preconcieved notions, unrealistic expectations, a tendancy to forget to look in the rearview mirror when I make that same mistake again in life, thankfully self inflicted rather than injuring others, highly opinionated when I should often practice being fluent in silence, I believe laughter is the music of life and a child's is a symphony, everyday is a holiday and every meal a feast, that without gratitude there can never be appreciation and without humility any pride is false, there is such a thing as bad art, wasting of time no matter how hard you try to take something from it, health is as much a state of mind as it is a condition, emotion is what strengthens or weakens the soul and apathy is a thief, and people who write run on sentences should be beaten into a pulp by escaped Nazi war criminals in drag ( Dominican Nun's), a story for when we meet ! It's difficult to describe accurately who you are, that's something that we reveal in bits and pieces, however this makes for a hint of what lies beneath.

I am a man who is looking for a life partner. I was married to a woman for almost 39 years who taught me to live, love, and be happy. I want to find a new love, who wants to love me and have that same love returned to her. I know she must first love herself--- and i know from that, she will be able to love me and that we will develop our own extremely special relationship---yes fairy-tale like. i have 2 great married children that live in Chicago and a beautiful 6 mo old granddaughter. We are extremely close and are all strong in our faith! I also have some of my own interests (golf, bridge, and limited work). Hopefully, my partner would also have some of her own interests and would feel a sense of self-fulfillment in those endeavors. I have stayed in good physical shape and would hope my partner would have similar goals. I want to travel, cruise, and enjoy real friendship with the right woman. Did I mention travel? My professional name is C. Eric Mayer, DDS and i work at Domenella Dental Care. Trying to decide if i should join--call me! I have a passion for music of many genres--please see the section called "Music" and listen to some of my listed songs--you will quickly feel like you know me better!! I believe in God and truly believe that one must treat others as they want to be treated. In my professional work, I take care of many people who have limited access to dental care, and i also take care of inmates at our local county jail. To sum it up, I consider myself a real good guy, and I am looking for a real good woman. Let's meet and see what happens!
