    24, Griffith, IN
Hi I'm Steven. A big part of my time has gone to charity; boy scouts, venturing(BSA), my parish's teen group and men's club, and I'm also big in the Knights of Columbus. Through all my years growing up: earning my Eagle Scout and joining the K of C were pretty profound events in my life. And through my adventures almost everyone I've met has had a significant influence in my life. I enjoy working with my hand during my leisure time. I'm currently studying to be a mechanical engineer, and I am also training to become an officer in the United States Army. I have gotten out of life and I have a lot to give back. I'm a gigantic nerd, you know star wars, star trek, lord of the rings, marvel, DC, and history are a passion.

My two young children bring joy to our family and teach me how to be silly and hug a lot. I am learning to love more as a single father. When we were in church standing in front of a statue of Mary my two-year old son said, "She's talking to me." I believe it. They seem to easily know Jesus. I wonder if very young children know this because they were recently with Jesus in Heaven before being sent down. I'm generally easy going and calm (although the kids challenge me), enjoy humor, conversation that is anywhere from light to serious, fixing up the house, cooking, reading and teaching my children about life. There is a little rebel in me and I have found the Catholic Church a partner in being rebellious to the world. I've learned the teachings are about beauty and love, often contrary to the secular world. One of my favorite teachings, perhaps mostly because it goes against the world while still showing beauty and love, is on marriage and contraception. I think many people appreciate this teaching when it's understood, but it doesn't seem to be taught enough, or listened to enough. I enjoy reading about the saints and how they can be different from the world around them, but also in learning of their faults, sins, and conversions.

Back when i was interviewing for my first job, a common question asked by interviewers was "tell me about yourself". Back then, i rambled on and on about my volunteer work, hobbies, and leadership style, but none of that seems to apply in this situation. I guess what you really want to know is that I have a customer service job where I am "on-call" 24/7. I don't make a lot of plans because they often get interrupted by work. I look forward to new movies that come out and dinner reservations, mostly because 2 hour movies and dinner are both situations where I can step out and answer a phone call. As far as bigger goals, I am working to get in shape for the Indianapolis Mini-Marathon next year (up to 4.5 miles, only another 9 to go). I love watching football, science fiction movies, and stupid sitcoms (i have a unhealthy, shameful obsession with these). I do play fantasy football, which essentially makes me a nerd who doesn't hate sports (however Star Trek is still pretty awesome). I bike whenever i get the opportunity to do so and i enjoy camping. I also love road trips, while hating having to drive to complete errands. About a year ago, i was relocated for work to NW Georgia. I am actively working to get back to Indianapolis full-time, but as of right now i spend about 50% of my time there. I expect to be back full-time in Indy by mid-to-late November. Now that i have rambled on for the past 1,433 characters (gotta love the character count thing on this site), i can tell you that conversations with me are fairly similar. Talking to me is a bit... erratic... but i can stay on topic if the situation calls for it. I dont really know how to end this rambling mess of a personal summary. I guess I'm done....

I'm passionate about travel and trying new things. I've served 7.5 years in the army and seen some of the most interesting places, learning new skills such as understanding the stock market. I'd guess you might describe me as an adventurer. In my leisure time I enjoy reading books about my areas of interest and building up my plans to achieve my goals in life.

I'm one of those personalities that folks either 'get' right away, or not at all. My friendships are more about quality than quantity and my artistic/musical side (I play the piano by ear) is balanced by an analytical, BS-detecting left brain. Comedian Don Rickles is my hero...he is classy, but everyone is fair game. While I have some fairly deep uncertainties about whether I'm called to be a dad, I have had my fill of casual dating and am ultimately looking for something long-term. Humor is one of my best traits...but my dating etiquette does not involve games, and chivalry is neither dead nor optional in my book. If you understand all that and are capable of tossing a friendly zinger or two my way, that's a great start. If you expect to beat me in a dancing or Karaoke contest, you will be disappointed. If you can fake your way through a home-cooked meal, I'll gladly do the dishes and kill the spiders. One last note...I attended a terrific nondenominational church my first three years in Indianapolis, also was a Young Life leader in college and attended a great nondenominational camp growing up despite remaining Catholic throughout. And I was a bit uncomfortable with the number of yes/no questions regarding Church doctrine, given that I am a better Catholic due to the people and experiences in the non-Catholic-but-Christian realm. (That doesn't mean I am looking to leave the Church...).
