I'm originally from Minnesota, but have lived in Cedar Rapids for several years. I mostly meet people through church or non-profit/volunteering activities. People usually find me intelligent, witty, helpful, and creative. Theological and political discussions interest me. I have no doubt there is a God. I'm extremely pro-life. I find that God seems to send me to places where I can do the most good. I've lived in a few places that made national news because of floods. Sometimes I go out for a walk or jog, although I prefer biking. I have read most of the Bible, and hope to finish that some day. I find that God seems to place me in areas where disaster strikes, while disasters tend to miss me, which allows me to help others.

I am a well educated, caring, compassionate, and devoted person. I value honesty and really despise hypocrisy. I will run through a brick wall for those that I care about and those that are close to me. I try to be physically active every day (I compete in triathlons), I try to help someone every day, and I try to learn at least one new thing every day. I am pretty close to my family and we talk regularly.

I have three major goals in life that guide my passions (ask me about them). I love my niece and nephew. I care about my students and making sure they challenge themselves and become better people while taking my class. I also am passionate about being a good role model for my niece, nephew and my students. I think my niece and nephew are the most influential people in my life right now. They make me be a better, and more caring person. They are also so much fun to be around and I really enjoy my time with them. They are also old enough now that we can have "Uncle Tommy time". :-)

"Your imagination is your preview of life's coming attractions."Albert Einsten Have you ever noticed that when you blow on a dog's face it gets mad, but when you take it for a car ride it sticks its head out the window? Or that The Alphabet Song and Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star have the same tune? Now stop singing and read on . . . A hike and picnic at Lake Macbride Park would be the preferred agenda, trekking off the main path. Well find that place in the woods where no one else has been. I love Saturdays in the fall except for raking leaves, but if youre helping me, beware as I just might toss you in the pile. Ill be watching the Iowa football game in the afternoon with a cold lager(Go Hawkeyes). Dont totally understand the game? Ill explain it to you-maybe show you the proper way to tackle. Im a good teacher. Later on its to a movie, a dive restaurant, or a good-time sing-along at the Piano Bar. Cold winter nights-Ill be perfecting my homemade mac and cheese recipe. The Shawshank Redemption, Meet the Parents, or similar movie is the DVD of choice, buttered popcorn included. Speaking of winter, I need to plan that next trip to Mexico. White sand against the blue ocean at sunset is hard to top wouldn't you agree? Spring and summer weekends-its rising early and feeling the morning sun slowly warm your body. Youll find me tooling around the house, making the ritual trip to Lowes, or maybe a game of golf. I like to build fortswell okay its been a while since Ive done that. The evenings, depending on what kind of wine youre in the mood for, Ill be grilling a steak or marinated chicken. Ill also take the occasional bike ride. Have you ever ridden through a big puddle...on purpose? Join me on the adventure.

Basically I love life and love living it. I laugh at every chance I get. At first, I may appear quiet and shy but I'm very confident and passionate. I like puns, corny jokes, Reece's pieces, Nerf guns, helping others, red box, bargains, opening doors for you and Fluffy. I enjoy sports, traveling, restaurants, cultural events, and socializing with quality people. I'm always down to try new things, whether it be a new show in town, different restaurant or cuisine, or spontaneous road trips to check out this or that. I think it would be better doing these things with someone special. My older sister has been the most influential person in my life. Her braveness, patience, determination, and kindness has taught me so much and definitely shaped who I am. .

I'm originally from northern Illinois where my family still lives. Coming to Iowa for college I completed my Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and I am currently an engineer for MidAmerican Energy and also have a small mechanical design and manufacturing business. I am blessed to work with some of my closest friends in everything I do. The opportunities I have had here have been nothing short of amazing. When I am not working, dancing is what I devote the most of my spare time to. I discovered a passion for dancing really for the first time in college. Prior to that, life was mostly about martial arts, football and outdoor activities like camping, backpacking, and canoeing. I'm an Eagle Scout too. Anyways, dance stuck to me like no other activity ever had, and now I teach, travel, compete, and social dance as much as I can. I really enjoy traveling to other cities to learn, teach and share West Coast Swing with other groups, clubs and events. I enjoy being outside, running, camping, or rock climbing, or inside relaxed with a great book, movie, or piece of music and glass of wine or tea.

Any guy can take you on a date, say the right things, act the right way, etc. Before you know it, you find yourself in a relationship with this charming guy and what happens? The same thing that happens with every guy. Pretty soon your dates, when they even happen, are spent looking at your phones. The guy has a closer relationship with his social media contacts than with you. You lose connection. You lose interest. Love dies. What I'm suggesting--what I'm offering--is a relationship unlike the others. I want to do things the way mom and dad did it--hell, the way grandma and grandpa did it! I want a largely digital-free relationship! Now, don't get me wrong. We still need our smart phones for work. They are invaluable tools. But I want a relationship with someone who thinks that talking is superior to texting, and touching is better than talking. I want to ASK you how your day was, and hear you answer in your own voice. I want to see your face as you describe your triumphs and your agonies, not read about it in a text. I want to learn as much about you as I can over dinner or a glass of wine, rather than catch up on your Tweets and Facebook posts. I want to hop in the car and go check out whatever purchase we're thinking about making, rather than just stare at a screen and add it to our "shopping cart." Social media has killed relationships; smartphones are the death of romance. Want to know why that 80 year-old couple you see holding hands still has it? They actually talk to each other! They're connected! They respect and know each other! I understand this may all sound weird coming from someone on a dating website. I also understand the need to spend a little time texting and emailing initially before we might feel comfortable meeting a total stranger for the first time. But what I'm offering is the chance to try something new in the hope that you will see a different outcome from your previous, recent romantic endeavors. Now, a little about me: Very simply, I have a career that does not allow me to meet many people who are relationship material. I am interested in meeting new women who are independent, but loyal. Education and a great sense of humor will go a long way. I am well-employed, take care of myself, and can cook fairly well. I'm not looking for a mother to take care of me; I'm looking for a partner to take care of each other.
