I am looking for a person who is not full of drama and is able to be truthful in every situation. I am very loyal, and have a tendency to be practical and not impressed with social status. I am reserved in my speech unless asked for my opinion and believe the best gift we have is the free will God gave us. I also believe we are placed to serve others by using our gifts and therefore serve God. I enjoy quiet evenings and love to spend time with somone who is interesting and not full of drama and gossip. I love to watch people and have a extensive experience with people who are under stress and am able to identify people who are not telling the truth. I am enjoy the sacrements and attend Mass 5 to 6 times a week. I also read the bible along with other readings that will allow me to grow in my faith. I want to listen to what God has in store for me and I know he will provide whatever I need.

I'm a thinker and a planner but hope I don't come off as such a serious person that I appear as someone who isn't much fun. I have a good sense of humor and am always looking for new friends to share it with, in this case women who find my self-described attributes appealing. After growing up on a grain and livestock farm in NW Iowa and then on to college, I spent the next 30 years as an educator in four small to large Iowa public school districts. With retirement, I returned to my hometown. I enjoy dabbling in French and Spanish languages. Cinematography is a longtime avocation. Occasionally I get Letters to the Editor published in the Des Moines Register. My photo is a self-portrait taken in 2015.

I "am a strong willed, confident in my own skin and compassion thriving soul that value communication is number one thing for me. Trust, integrity. and honest. I'm spirited I was raised as Catholic. I believe God will put two people together and you will know if you are attracted to one other, it take time to see were it go. And one last note, the one you love seems to be able to handle things alone. But don't believe it for a second , this person needs you too. Together you are stronger as two then one. This is why you are together not to walk along.

I am a full time musician with a very popular 50's and 60's band in northeast Iowa. I am the father of 7 children who are grown. I have 5 grandchildren who I don't see very often because they live far from me. I love my family, and communicate with them often. I am looking for someone who has a positive outlook on life, I don't want to be bogged down by people who chose not to be happy.

I work two jobs one for insurance and for the love of construction in the other small business in the restaurant bar business. It takes a lot of my time but that's all I have right now this time so I give it freely. I would love to create free time to share my time with someone who would the open for fun entertainment. At this stage of the game knowing there will be siblings of all ages all mine are adults and have great jobs. For example I just spent two days with my 87 year old mother planting a tree and doing chores for her at her home town. She's home watching the Cubs trying to win a World Series right now. When I take time I do go hunting fishing and even camping but I'd rather be in a hotel on a beach in the Caribbean. That doesn't happen very often but when it does that is great. Saying all that it just seems to be it's hard to fit everything, but life is short so I try to put as much fun as I can. I don't cheat I don't lie but you have to expect the truth, we all know sometimes it hurts. I root for the Vikings the Minnesota Twins, assumption Knights and the Chicago Cubs. Good luck with all that!!!!!!

On awakening I thank God for another day and then start thinking about my 1st cup of coffee! For someone retired ,I stay pretty busy. I try to go to mass everyday. I got my fishing license but haven'the been yet. I am a volunteer for Catholic Charities as a mentor for drug court. Some days I go to Planet Fitness, but not everyday lol. My family is very important to me. I am so pleased that they have become successful adults living their own productive lives. I seek to find balance in my life through healthy habits .I've spent most of my adult life dedicated to my family but now they are on their own. I love the outdoors and see God in nature and in all living creatures.
  • Joe, 85 from Sioux City, IA
    85, Sioux City, IA
Since my wife's passing, my life has changed: lost weight; enrolled in numerous classes at local community college; talked to more people; exercised even more. While all of these are good, I have continually felt lonely for the first time in my life. I have discovered that I need someone to care for and to love, and I also need to have someone do the same for me. That has been a a surprise, almost a shock! My parents, especially my mother, influenced me greatly, providing a home filled with God, love, and peace. My paternal grandmother, who lived with us during the summer months - the rest of the year she kept house for my father's younger brother, a parish priest in the Rapid City diocese - taught me, by her example, that through faith, love and persistence most seemingly impossible goals could be reached. My only sibling, an older brother showed me the rewards of effort, diligence, and study. Family is most important; the fact that my friends number so few gives a clue to my devotion to family. Reading has been a lifelong passion, whether fiction for enjoyment or non-fiction for instruction. Dogs, lap or hunting, have always been an integral part of my life.
