42, Des Moines, IAOkay, so I have to update this description now (July, 2011). previously I had made reference to the fact that I had been discerning a vocation to the priesthood for several years. I have recently re-opened that possibility, so I must now say that I am actively discerning a call. Just something to keep in mind. I am a convert to the Catholic Church of about 11 years. I am mostly traditional in my theology and practice of the Faith and I love the traditional Latin Mass, which I attend weekly. I worked at Fareway grocery stores for the last 13 years, but am currently working for Hostess Brands as a route sales rep. My faith is the most important thing in my life and (if I don't become a priest) I desire someone who shares my passion and wants to grow in Christ with me. I enjoy reading (though I don't do it as much as I would like) and my favorite authors are almost all 20th century english writers like G.K. Chesterton, Hilaire Belloc, C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien. I love walking trails and spending time in nature. I tend to be pretty introverted at times but, like many introverts, enjoy more extroverted personalities. I might seem a little stiff from this description, and I probably can be at times, but I can be really fun too and a good conversationalist (with the right person). As things are now, I'm not looking for anything more than friendship, but feel free to contact me if you would like to chat.
31, Des Moines, IAEx US Army Combat Medic. Served for eight years, deployed twice, and am now in medical school. Soon I can finally take care of the sick an injured to the highest capacity. Nothing makes me feel better than curing someone's ails. I left the Army so that I could be where I am today. I have rejoined as Army Reserve, which means I can literally live anywhere I wish. Why so serious? Let's be positive and upbeat, there's no need to be negative. Life is hard enough so let's laugh, enjoy our time, and leave the serious stuff for when it's needed. Laughter is the best medicine for the soul, so let's go to the pharmacy and get a double dose. As often as I can, I like to get out and go hiking or biking. Nature is very calming. In my off time I enjoy relaxing and de-stressing from putting in a hard day of work and study. It can be anything from watching a TV show on Netflix, going for a nature walk, or enjoying an evening in the town. I love stand-up comedy clubs! But most of all I love to share an experience with someone who wants to be there with me. Well, if you didn't want to be there with me then it wouldn't be so enjoyable! Let's go out, and have a laugh on me. I'm looking for someone who isn't afraid of religion. Archbishop Fulton Sheen once said that millions hate what they think the church is, but only a handful hate what it actually is. You don't need to have a dog eared bible in your back pocket and have scripture and verse memorized, just a deeper love of life and soul. Also I want to meet someone who isn't afraid to go outside, do something with cardio, and enjoy a workout. Running and biking are fun, or just an easy hike in the woods with some food. I love sharing experiences! Doing something, anything, with someone I like is exhilarating. Let's share an experience together as we grow to know one another.
29, Glenwood, IAHey there! My name is Micah. I grew up in a largely Catholic family and am the youngest of two. I went to Our Lady of Guadalupe Seminary in Denton for a year, but discerned that it is not my calling. I really enjoy being active, playing sports, and being around my family.
40, Dubuque, IALife's been pretty good to me. I have an amazing family, steady job, strong morals, a good head on my shoulders and a real love of everything this world has to offer. There are many things I want to accomplish in my 30s, especially now that I'm getting in shape. One of those is to either through- or section-hike the Appalachian Trail, preferably the former. Another desire is to get out on my snowboard more than just once or twice this season and go mountain biking far more often. What could be better than doing these things alone? Doing them with you. It's long been a dream of mine to experience backcountry camping in Yosemite, bike the rocks of Moab or canoe the boundary waters with someone close to me. So what am I like in person? The first quality someone might name for me is "genuine." I don't lie, cheat or steal and drama is the last thing on my mind (if it's there at all); I'm far too mellow for that. I can quote a lot of movies and do numerous accents (but don't worry; I'm not annoying with them). My sense of humor varies from sarcastic to just plain goofy depending on the company. I generally try to see the good in most people but I will gripe on occasion - haha. Some other key points: Musical tastes: everything from electronica/techno to classical to bluegrass/hillbilly. I love playing the piano and would love to pick up a bari saxophone again. I dabble in writing music, too. Board games: Life, Clue, Monopoly, Pictionary, Cranium, Dixit (very cool game if you haven't tried it!). Card games: Euchre and Cribbage, mainly. Who the heck puts card games in their profile? Food: New York pizza, Buffalo Wild Wings, pasta, home-cooked burgers. I guess that's plenty of information for now. I've got to leave something to talk about, right? Can't wait to hear from ya!
49, Des Moines, IAI am someone who cherishes family and friends. Relationships are important to me and I'm loyal and devoted to those in my life. Thanks to my parents I was raised in a household which provided me a good foundation for my life. With my free time I like to attend or watch baseball, football, or hockey games. I enjoy music in many forms: going to concerts, listening to music or attempting to learn how to play guitar so I can eventually make music. I enjoy movies as well, with the emphasis on small, intimate, art-house type films as well as documentaries. Not really into the big budget, action blockbusters which the studios love to make. Although with most rules this can and does get broken occasionally. I like eating. Yes, you read that right. And although I haven't been able to channel my love of eating into cooking skills it doesn't preclude me from making the occasional attempt at cooking or heading out to establishments where those skilled in the culinary arts ply their trades. I really enjoy traveling but have done less of it more recently. Under the right circumstances though, I'm sure I could re-energize that aspect of my life without much trouble. It seems that travel is more fun and enjoyable when you have a partner in crime (figuratively that is).
25, Cedar Rapids, IAMy name is Thomas, I like to cook and to bring out the joy in others lives. I love to have fun and play sports with friends and family. And when I'm not out and about I enjoy watching netflix. I love making others smile and laugh! I absolutely love animals, they are just adorable. I've been a Catholic my whole life and very traditional! I love God with all my heart and soul, my wish is to do God's holy will. I'm shy at first but then can be very outgoing.I love seeing people happy and smile and help those who are in need! I enjoy the traditional Latin mass the true mass.
61, Grimes, IAGood friends, how do you do? My biggest passion in life is my companion animals. I have a grey barn cat named "Prowler." He's an indoor/outdoor guy. He doesn't chase and kill birds, that's not his nature. He doesn't want to hurt anything, he just likes to hear them scream! I have a small black and white terrier ("terror") mix dog, named "Dixie." Two guys who had a big impact on my life were my high school American History teacher, Mr. Houle, and my high school English/Drama teacher, Mr. Jim Rude. They taught me a love of history and literature and drama, that I have not lost or given up on. I like to spend my leisure time in the public library on the internet, and reading the books.
