My name is Nick. My friends say that I'm funny and smart and handsome, but I keep them chained to the furnace in my basement, so they tell me whatever I want to hear (That was a joke). I enjoy reading, and watching and making movies, something I would like to make a living out of doing. I'm pretty easy going and I like to laugh; I believe life is an adventure, so you should enjoy yourself. I go mass every week and pray the rosary. I don't smoke, or drink. I have nothing against drinking socially (if I did then I could never be around my family during holidays. Or sporting events. Or funerals), I just don't like hanging out in bars and if someone tells me they are having a party, I think there should be cake and ice cream (possibly pony rides, a moon bounce at minimum). I'd much rather be able to have a conversation with someone. I'm not shy and I like to talk, but I'm not a social networking person, I'd rather have dinner with someone and talk face to face. I'm old fashioned in some ways, especially when it comes to dating, not in the sexist a-woman-should-obey-the-man way. I just believe in treating a woman the way I would want my sister to be treated. My Catholic faith is the foundation of my life, it's the rationale behind my decisions, and the catalyst of actions.

I am a year and a half out of my divorce, and I am taking my sweet time with it. I have a trade/business that I am trying to build up, take care of my kids four days a week, play music professionally, like to read but rarely have the energy for it, and am interested in meeting people and making friends. I love people, from kids to seniors and every walk of life, but I am a shy person and I spend more energy than others realize trying to be as social as I am. I attend mass every week, I belong to a predominantly African American parish--pastor describes it as "full gospel Catholic." It has been a great support to me and a great place to bring my kids into the faith. I love life, and I believe in the power of the Holy Ghost to make my life mean something.

I've read that the best way to get noticed on a dating site is to post a photo with your arms open wide. Since I didn't do that, I guess it doesn't matter too much what I write about myself here. ;-) I am a life-long Catholic and Nola resident. My favorite hobbies are listening to music, running, reading and swing dancing. I enjoy conversation with people who are smart and funny, and my friends and family fit one or both of those categories. If you looked at my photos, then you'll have noticed that I'm a ginger. Prince Harry gets told all the time that he looks like me. When I have time off, I'll often visit my sister and entertain my nephew. He will tell you that I am the greatest uncle in the world. (I've earned this status via hours of puzzles, laser gun battles, books and board games.) My nephew has no other uncles, but I like to think I would still be the best even if he did.

I'm a small fish in a big pond. I'm currently pursuing my passions in medical school in New Orleans and all I know is that I want to use my passions for healing in the service of God and to be a witness for His saving grace. I enjoy artisanal coffee, craft beer, fantastic stories (especially those written by JRR Tolkien). I enjoy discussing theology and philosophy (though I'm admittedly not the most learned in these studies), and I'm simply looking for a companion who I can grow with and learn from.

I lost my wife of 21 yrs to breast cancer the year b4 Katrina. My son was 8 years old. He's now 20 in his third year in college. I ready to find someone to share the rest of my life. Aftet a six month stay in Touro, I'm learning how to walk again after back surgery. I volunteer on the spinal chord unit as a pier mentor. I've been in real estate for 30 years. I sell shrimp. I'm also writing a book about my life. The most important way I could describe myself is in February 2015, I began a conversion with The Father! Every day of my life is better than the day b4! It is a wonderful way to live!
