Hi, I am new to this and just trying it out to see what it's like. I am divorced and have no children. I live in Lincoln with my adopted miniature Yorkshire Terrier. I have a great sense of humor and people find me pretty easy to get along with. After starting my own business last year I am starting to find more time to devote to the rest of my life, so here I am.

I am a homebody that enjoys the comfort of being in my living room, reading or watching good quality television or movies. I enjoy shopping and eating at restaurants. I love to travel, especially to historic areas of America and Europe. I have lived in Europe when I was serving in the US Army. I love European history, art, arcthiture and culture. I love history, especially medieval and American colonial. I am traditional in what I believe in. I am a believer in God, family, country, and conservative values. I am a conservative republican, who is a devout Catholic. I was married for many years, have been divorced for about six years, and have an annulment. I have one child who is a junior in high school. I will always be a small-town guy, even though I have lived in Lincoln for over 30 years. I still miss the quiet and beauty of country life. As much as I enjoy the amenities of city life, I would never be happy in a big city such as Chicago, New York or Los Angeles. Life on an acreage really appeals to me. I was a handguns instructor and am a supporter of the second amendment. My educational background was in secondary education, and I have completed several years in graduate school studying history and special education. I enjoy cooking and researching my family genealogy, reading and writing articles for a local publication. I hope to lead tours in Colonial American locations and Europe in the near future. I have no interest in sports at all. I don't even watch them on TV. I have never used tobacco or drugs. I am not much of a drinker and do not gamble. I am not fond of bars or loud, crowded places. I love animals of all kinds and am looking for someone who shares my values, someone who is not a workaholic, and who values the time she spends with me and wants to discuss everything from current affairs, news, history and her day. I am looking for a kind of girl next door, who has a sense of class and who is well-read, articulate, and kind. I enjoy classic old movies from the 30s through the sixties, as well as a few of the well-made modern ones. As far as music, I am eclectic. I enjoy a lot of the great old sixties songs and singers such as Dean Martin, Petula Clark, Linda Ronstadt, as well as some of the really good country stars of old. I occasionally enjoy opera, classical, and Irish. I detest rap, hip-hop, and heavy metal. If you who would rather listen to a thunderstorm than the noise of a crowded bar, then we may go well together.

I'm hardly the perfect guy, but I am kind and faithful. My friendships are close, and I like connecting on a deep level with people. I feel very strongly that friendship is not just about two people having fun together--its about being there for the other when life is hard. Making a gift of oneself should be a joy and not a burden. I'd love to be a dad, although at my age, I'm realistic about my chances. I'm good with kids, and my empathy and life experience enable me to sense when they are lonely or stressed. My nieces and nephews often do better in talking with me than they do with their own parents! I've worked a number of different jobs. I had my own law practice for eight years, with 1400+ clients. It was going well when I decided I had to shut it down and enter the seminary. More on that shortly. I've worked in political campaigns and as a professional staff member/counsel for an oversight committee with the U.S. House of Representatives. I had a one-year appointment as Counsel to the Inspector General of the IRS, taught catechism at a parish school and was the Administrator at a small Catholic boarding school for high-school boys. Currently, I am the business manager at a seminary. There was a time a several years ago when I thought I might be called to the priesthood. In three years at seminary, I forged lasting friendships and deepened my spiritual life and knowledge and understanding of the Faith. Closing my practice for this step has been professionally costly, but I am glad I did it. I've traveled a good bit, and I made the annual Pentecost pilgrimage from Paris to Chartres four times (73 mile hike in 2.5 days). I like to read about current events, economics, philosophy, history and theology. I like the outdoors--off-road biking, hiking, bird-watching, occasionally hunting, going to the beach, watching a good football game. I also enjoy movies. A good popcorn flick now and then is fun, but I especially enjoy movies that touch me or make me think. And I love good, soul-lifting music. Mom was a musician (french horn), so beautiful music was regularly enjoyed in our house.

Hello :) I'm Ben. I am blessed to have been raised by both of my parents alongside my one brother who is three yrs younger. I grew up evangelical protestant but became Catholic on march 30th 2013. I am a very well rounded 27 yr old full of extremely large dreams, goals and ambitions to change the world around me. Such I know have ever so much to do with that one He has planned for me. I am a very affectionate, passionate, soft and kindhearted individual who does have the potential to wear his heart on his sleeve. When the situation permits it I will admit I can be a bit assertive in a relationship. Ultimately I'm just patiently awaiting to find that absolute lady my Father will richly bless to my love and care so I can express and share so very many things with and more. I love any opportunity to look and dress sharp! I'm not at all afraid of being the best dressed gentleman in the room for it makes me feel all the bolder about the standards I hold to. I am a coffee addict, I enjoy singing bass, red wine, dark beer, especially exploring tastes in the most elegantly made cocktails, long late night walks with deep intelligent conversation and hand holding. Traveling when done with the perfect company, concerts and plays, fine arts, softball, basketball, football. But I am gonna stop there lol Just have to get to know me for more ;) Really, I'm a bit playful at times fellow who is down to earth and very likable. I strive to be an amazing listener and friend who seeks to share life and it's many adventures with somebody very special. Mostly to be able to grow deeper and more passionately in faith with that one amazing person.

My Catholic faith is important to me. I have gone thru some struggles in my life and it is my relationship with God that has sustained me. I get satisfaction from helping others whenever I can be of service. I have two therapy dogs (I get the therapy) that I enjoy taking for walks and being with nature. My parents have been influential in my life-my mother has always been a strong catholic-my dad joined the church when he was 70. I have been in recovery from alcoholism for 32 years and have met a lot of influential people through this recovery program. Jesus has been my role model as he came down to live among the sinners, the sick and the poor and was involved in their healing. I try to do that to the extent I can. In my leisure time I like to work out 3-4 times per week either at the Y or cycling outside. I am involved in Light of the World which is a faith sharing group and attend several support group meetings a week.

I am a young adult trying to find my way in life. Doing my best to conform to God's Will. My faith is a part of my identity as much as my nationality. I am a musician but am practical, so I went to college and got a full-time job to take care of myself. Always hope in the Lord, though. I am influenced by the method of Cursillo in having Christ-centered friendships and relationships and attribute my state of life to it. I am open to true friendships and possibly meeting my future spouse here if it be God's Will.

I can build or fix just about anything. I have a great love for music and have a larger music collection than most radio stations. I don't drink, but don't mind when other people do. I have a huge family that is all very close and gets together often. I work for a medium sized corporation. I like movies, trying new resturants, activities with my kids, just about anything. Anything can be fun if you make it. :) I am artistic and creative. I have a big heart and love to make people laugh. I love to hear my kids laugh and my house is the main hangout for them and their friends. I think they all like the fact that I never yell and I let them be themselves. I like intelligent conversations, comfortable silences, or being silly. I am the kind of person who opens the door for other people, says please and thank you, and respects the feelings of others. I teach my kids the same. The best teacher is by example. :) I like to keep my house clean, but don't care if my cars have dirt on them. I'm pretty easy going. Patience is the virtue of a person of faith. - Pope Francis

I am looking around on this site and just seeing how things work here. I looked on some other internet sites that had a whole array of different people and didn't cater to Catholics. I could see those sites weren't for me. I was glad to see what looked like so many quality people that were in my same age group and that held the same Catholic beliefs that I do. The strong moral character and the devotion to lead a good life and help one another get to heaven, is definitely absent on the other dating sites aimed at the general public.

To preface and with full disclosure, I'm a bit skeptical of online dating as personality is a tough sell across the Internet. My presence here is more about reaching out to make connections rather than simply seeking a romantic match, though I am open to that possibility, should, down the road, a friendship progress into one of romantic intentions. But if a 'lightning struck and the rest is history' experience is your goal, I will most likely be a disappointment to you. I am an introvert with spurts of extroverted tendencies. I prefer one-on-one and small-group interactions and enjoy socializing over good food and drink. Larger gatherings tend to reveal my goofier, impish nature, and on such occasions, I'm rarely without some snarky or pithy comment. I attended art school and happily hold a position as a graphic/interactive designer, or as my email signature says, "Ocular Aesthetician." Much of my free time is spent staying active either on the volleyball court as a player, both sand and court, and a coach, at the gym, or biking. As a night owl, I have a fondness for good films of all kinds and reading, of which I should really do more. On that note, I have a deep appreciation for most anything art-related, including music, theater, fashion, and design. I'm meticulously organized and can be a bit obsessive about things remaining neat and clean. I almost always have a firm and decided opinion on whatever happens to be the topic of discussion, and enjoy engaging counter arguments and ideas. Lastly, answers to frequently asked questions are as follows: - Yes. - No. - If we're doing away with all things healthful, pizza. Otherwise, I can't seem to get enough sushi. - Right. Using my left often has tragic ends. - Both have their place, though cats share a certain affinity to my own personality traits that could tip the scale in their favor. I could do without spiders. - Briefs. - It depends upon to what it's applied, but anything ending in 'ochre' seems a bit pretentious. - All of it, but only some country and rap. I'm not keen on Nickelback. - Scotch, neat. Otherwise IPAs and English ales. But I'm not above a High Life from time to time. - It's more than likely a quote from a movie. Or "Friends." - Ask away.
