I'm an Army brat that comes from a family of native Oregonians. They're all Italians, Oregon ones at that. Portland not New Jersey, yeah that's kind of weird. I'm what used to be called a 'cradle Catholic'. Born and raised in the church from baptism to confirmation. OK, I'm not all that great at attending mass but I could never identify as anything but Catholic. I'm semi-retired from federal and military service. It's very nice. I'm in the midst of planning what I want to do when I grow up. So far a lot of backpacking, reading, writing & hanging with my grandson. I have a law degree but I don't practice. This doesn't stop people from asking me questions about every legal matter. For fun I throw out a really bad answer: "You know there are people doing 20 years in the federal penitentiary for ripping those mattress tags off". While in the army I deployed to Desert Storm and Iraq. It really was some of the best and worst times of my life. Now I'm an avid reader who's biggest concern is a paper cut. My interest extends to classic literature, history & comic books with my grandson. I do book clubs, practice my Russian & Italian by going to Meet-Ups and spend far more time at Powell's, Pok-Pok, Blue Star & Salt-&-Straw than is really healthy.

Describing myself is always difficult through text. Im much better at face to face interaction. That said, I would describe myself as fun, easy going, goofy, adventurous, spontaneous, thoughtful, passionate, intellectual, and arrogant but mostly only to be silly. Growing up I was taught to behave like a man and make decisions but to also be a gentleman and hold doors/pay the bill. I love the outdoors and consider myself country but I'm not a redneck. I'm into many different genres of music. I enjoy playing sports more than watching sports. I love most types of movies and quoting them is part of the fun (obviously not during the movie) I was born and raised catholic but fell away for a number of years. Just so happens that 2016 the year of mercy is when I found my way back to my faith. I still have my struggles just like everyone but at least now I have a stronger relationship with God to help me out.
  • Matthew, 31 from Portland, OR
    31, Portland, OR
I am looking to go on some fun dates. If it works out, then things will get more serious. My grandparents have been a great example in my life. They have taught me the importance of working hard and family. I want a female that cares for herself and others. I really want a girl that is in the know about society and the rest of the world.

The most difficult part of the profile is to describe oneself. I am initally reserved until I get to know someone. I am a person that believes in being kind to people. I am a laid back easy going independent guy, I follow the sports that I like with passion. My friends would say that I am fair and honest, a good listener, unassuming confidence.

Hi my name is Corey, I'm an average person who likes to cook and have fun with friends and family members. I like to read Sci-Fi Books. I'm also interested in camping, working on my car, playing video games and going to the beach. I enjoy participating in my church activities and staying home and watching a good movie.

  • Bradley, 37 from Portland, OR
    37, Portland, OR
Things I like: spontaneous road trips, cooking healthy (ish) dinners, dogs, bourbon, quoting lines from cheesy movies, playing fantasy football (don't worry just one league), giving back, thrill-seeking adventures, traveling, softball, trying new places to eat or foods, outdoor concerts, going to breweries. Things I do not like: drama, negativity, people who cannot figure out the self scan machines at the grocery store, one way conversations, complainers, the Kardashians, cats. I am a recent Portland transplant (by way of Michigan) looking to meet new people. I tend to like women who have a goofy sense of humor and are a bit sarcastic, but who deep down are still sweet and caring. My ideal match would be comfortable in a number of social settings - from a formal wine tasting to going hiking to staying in to relax. I believe always being able to have fun and laugh in any situation, willingness to try new things, and sharing common interests make for the best relationships.

Hello, hope all is well with you. I am a believer, son, brother, nephew, cousin, brother in law, grandfather, uncle, neighbor, construction worker, I really like the mystics and mystical ideas, and I am somewhat of a joker ( laughing is one of my favorite things to do). Ok, I'm living a pretty simple life just because it' easy to achieve, easy to maintain. Just simplicity. .Love, in its simplicity.I'm not much of an inside pet person but would consider a dog. Sure I'm getting older, sure I've laid down some track ,but I've learned a fair amount . I've worked for myself for years but I'm just not much interested in money or anything that requires more than is needed..except for Love.. I look to the spiritual, natural and simple things .Yep. I'd like to get rid of the things that are holding me back... so I can fly. though we've loved like no other there are limits we can not exceed. until we return our flesh, we will not fly. I'm looking to find someone to run the beaches we can reach, chasing kite tails till we're exhausted. Have a peaceful day..
  • Chris, 36 from Sublimity, OR
    36, Sublimity, OR
Hello, My name is Chris.I am new to this online dating thing and a little skeptic about it, but I thought I would give it a try. Well, here it goes. I am a practicing Catholic and my faith and family are very important to me.I attend mass every week and every holy day.I try to help out in my parish when I can.I pray the rosary, chaplet of divine mercy, and chaplet of unity of Jesus king of all nations, along with some other prayers daily.I try to read the daily readings if I can as well. I would say I am on the shy side at first until I get to know you then I will open up,also am introverted and at times like alone time to recharge.I am honest, caring, and loyal.I like to make others laugh when I can and bring others up when they are feeling down and give them some words of encouragement. On the down side I can be stubborn at times.(We all have faults) I do not drink. It's just not my thing.I would rather have a soda pop, water, or ice tea anyday over a alcoholic drink. I am not into the bar scene at all and never have been and not much of a party animal neither.I pretty much lead a boring life when it comes to those things.I do not smoke, chew, or do drugs at all. It's not for me. I am the youngest of 4 children and was born and raised in Oregon. All of my siblings are within less than an hour drive away.I grew up on a family farm where I still currently work along with some of my family members.Farming is not a 8-5 job.It has some very long hours at certain times of the year, which has made it harder to meet someone.I would not trade growing up on a farm and living out in the country for anything. It has been a great blessing God has given me.I would love to find that special someone and be able to raise a family out in the country someday. The farming life is part of me and don't ever see myself not working in some part of agriculture.I also love to grow ornamental trees and shrubs as it is a deep interest of mine.I don't see myself living anywhere far away from my current area, but you never know God may have different plans.I like the outdoors and I like going up to the mountains, but haven't been able to go as much as I used to. Well, that's about all for right now Thanks for looking God bless

  • Rene Reed, 61 from Roseburg, OR
    61, Roseburg, OR
I am passionate about my Catholic faith and I love my Rosary. I was raised Catholic and have so much love for the church although we have evolved, but the teachings are still basically there. I love going to see the Oregon Ducks play hockey in Eugene and love to play and sing guitar since I've played for 35 years, it is a large part of my life and have a love for modern jazz. Eugene has so much to offer as far as cultural arts including local music and fine arts. I have a beautiful home here in Roseburg that I like to work on when I was home from the Operating Engineers. I am very honest, faithful, warm, caring and considerate and hope to find someone with the same values to spend the rest of my life with. Someone who has the same love for music, maybe even play and sing. Performing & Fine Arts which I want to explore so badly and someone who is honest and compassionate. I am currently making a transition in my career from construction equipment and explosives to my business background since the knees have finally been used up and am going in for knee replacement in April. The years of hard work were not only to blame but had a passion for playing handball in college all the winter months when I was at home and going to Umpqua Comm College. Glad I kept up on schooling and have it as my backup. I currently attend St. Josephs in Roseburg, St. Francis in Sutherlin and St. Marys in Eugene and love to mingle with all of these Catholic communities and I enjoy volunteering at Mercy Medical Center (CHI) while I transition into business. There is so much more that I'm sure I left out but I will let my Lord Jesus guide me.
  • Brian, 41 from Portland, OR
    41, Portland, OR
I'm Native Hawaiian; I was raised in Hawaii then relocated to Portland, OR for college. I'm passionate about social justice. My politics fall towards the far left, and I am dismayed by the undercurrent of racism and rampant incivility in our country. I have a doctoral degree, in the "helping" professions, and left a corporate leadership position to launch a digital health startup. I have volunteered extensively with non-profits in the health care policy and advocacy space, working to provide access to health care to those who need it. I was raised Catholic, but drifted away from the Church when I entered college. Some years later, during postgraduate training, a classmate asked if I'd be interested in joining her for Sunday mass at the Newman Center, a Holy Spirit Parish run by the Jesuits in Hawaii. I accepted her offer, which led me to a spiritual home that I didn't know I was missing. The homilies that the Newman Center Jesuits offered resonated with me in a way that I had not previously appreciated. Perhaps it was a function of my maturation. That said, I gained an immense respect for one of the Jesuit priests, who had spent a number of years in a remote part of the Philippines, ministering to the peasants caught between rebel and government forces. He was a soft-spoken man, but one had the impression that he had seen unspeakable acts of evil. His strength and commitment left a lasting impression on me; his life had been a model that I look to when I'm under stress. I enjoy all sorts of diversions. I play guitar. I studied Calligraphy in college, under a Trappist Monk. I love spending time at the ocean, where I can sit for extended periods listening the waves and breathing in the ocean air. I love cooking, and learning new methods for food prep. And I enjoy live music -- jazz, Baroque, classical... The only TV shows I watch are the News Hour and various cooking shows on PBS. I don't watch sports. But I do watch the Super Bowl -- mainly for the commercials.
