34, Philadelphia, PA"Angels can fly because they take themselves lightly." ~ G.K. Chesterton Recently moved back to Philadelphia, so figured I'd give this site another try. I grew up in your average Catholic family, youngest of three children. My faith has developed over the years, and always has room to grow. I hope to live my life in accordance with the teachings of Christ and His Church. The narrow path can be a struggle. I've come to this site to try and find someone to walk that path with me. Someone to grow with, pray with, and start a family with. I am laid back, easygoing guy who loves to spend time with friends. My down time is most often spent watching a wide range of movies, reading good books, playing a friendly game of poker, video games, football, politics, and discussing any of the above and more. I'm a bit of an old soul, I tend to have a quirky sense of humor, and more than anything enjoy a good conversation or interesting debate.
32, Wayne, PAMy friends and family are really important to me. I would do anything for them. I think that is why I enjoy helping others achieve their goals so much. Oh, and there's this little thing that is being a fan of my alma mater's basketball team (Go 'Cats!). I try to go to as many games as I can and have even made road trips for away games while I can (though I missed the 2016 Final Four - for good reason though, as I was traveling with family). For hobbies, I enjoy cooking, watching/attending sporting events, and trying to channel my inner Tim "The Toolman" Taylor while working on projects around the house (haven't caused too much damage yet). I also enjoy traveling to new and different places (I have been all over the US but have also made three trips to Europe in the past few years). There is nothing like getting together with friends to share a good meal, a movie, or a football or basketball game. I also believe it is important to give back - I volunteer with Alex's Lemonade Stand and am active with my parish. I am also a fanatic about cars and haven't missed the auto show in more than 20 years. I enjoy driving and any opportunity I have to take a road trip. Some interesting facts about myself: - I am one of the dwindling number who is versed in an ancient art...driving a stick shift. It certainly comes in handy in Europe. - I was born the day after my alma mater won its first national championship. - I graduated from college twice within 12 months (once with a bachelor's degree, then with a master's in finance) - I have spun the "Price is Right" big wheel and came within 5 cents of winning (OK, it was at a live show in Vegas, and the prize was $250, but I would love to be on the TV show someday). - In entering my chosen field, I broke from tradition as my grandfather, parents, and soon my brother, are current or former medical professionals. At the same time, I do have some medical knowledge from all those dinner table conversations. - I have a 20-year-old young man in Philadelphia who I have been mentoring since I was a freshman in college. When I first met him, he was always bouncing off the walls and I had to learn quickly how not to be another parent to him. Over the past few years, he has matured considerably and we have grown much closer.
33, West Chester, PAI'm the quiet type, I am down-to-earth and a good listener. I enjoy tennis, long walks, bowling and movies. I also like playing video games on occasion. One of my favorite electives in college was Astronomy, and I enjoy watching scientific documentaries.
26, Philadelphia, PAI am a gentle, giving academic-in-training. Most of my day job involves mathematical research with the occasional bout of teaching; I do my best to approximate answers to your problems, and sometimes I'll even give you an exact one! More viscerally, I study some of the math behind waves --- water waves, traffic waves, and, best of all, the kind of wave that arises when your motorboat stops short in the Venetian canal. There's more to life than research, but a Friday night at home quietly doing math is a beautiful thing. I live rather simply by myself in Philadelphia. I am quite domestic and I enjoy maintaining a clean, cozy, and welcoming (but very small!) home. Most weekends find me baking cakes, breads, and cobblers for my math department and for a local meal program with which I volunteer. Outreach to those in need is a large part of my nonmathematical life, and nobody churns out high-carb casseroles like my meal program friends. I am a liberal, optimistic, and ultimately dedicated Catholic, with a strong Jesuit streak, which means that I place a priority on "finding God in all things" and like to gnaw on my faith quite a bit. Some people call me, grandly, a "Renaissance man," and I certainly like how that sounds. Others call me a "font of worthless information," and that's probably true(r). You tell me: I can talk a blue streak about Tolkien's legendarium, the now-defunct Star Wars Expanded Universe, Henry James, Jesuits, Christmas carols, and functional analysis, little of which is relevant to real life at any given moment. But both classes of people would agree that I have a desert-dry sense of humor, fierce discipline, and a generous heart.
32, Philadelphia, PAI am your stereotypical geek/nerd. I play video games, watch anime, read way to much, and play Magic the Gathering. I also have an interest in history. While my main focus is U.S. Military History, I'm also interested in the Oregon Trail, railroads, the fire service and the history of the city of Philadelphia.
29, Philadelphia, PAI have grown up around the three F's, Family, Friends, and Faith. Growing up in an Italian family and with two family centered Grandmothers, nothing is more important. My 3 nephews keep me pretty busy whenever I get the chance to visit. Aviation is my life's passion and enjoy going to work day because of it. In my free time I like to watch movies and sports. Although, I would prefer attending games in person. I like card games and activities that keep the mind active. Personally, visiting new cities is always fun for me. When I travel to a new city, I like to visit something unique to that city and also try some of the local cuisine.
29, Philadelphia, PAOk, here goes nothing. I moved to Philly a little under a year ago to work as an Assistant Professor at a local university. Since moving, I've been blessed to find an amazing group of friends, found a wonderful Catholic community, and finally feel at home in Philly. Why I'm on here: Work can keep me very busy, I value my faith, not too big on the "swipe right" culture (i.e. seeking quality over quantity). About me: In a nutshell, I'm one half driven academic and one half big-hearted goofball. I can be very serious at work, but am most comfortable cutting loose and being lighthearted (cracking jokes, starting dances at weddings, or karaoke). I try to volunteer at least once a week, am involved in local running clubs, am a football fanatic, and beer garden & cocktail proponent. A short blurb won't tell the whole story, message me if you want to know more!
35, Philadelphia, PAI'm a kind, mellow gentleman seeking a partner to accompany me on life's next great adventures. I'm thrilled by the prospect of starting my own family someday and hope to meet a special someone who shares this aspiration. Other ways that I would describe myself and my personality: sociable, cerebral, empathetic, easy-going, even-keeled. I have fairly progressive social views - I'm greatly inspired by Pope Francis and cheer his messages for 21st century Catholics. Please get in touch if you think we might be a good match. Best of luck in your search and God bless.
