IAbout me, always seems a challenge, but then that is what makes life interesting.Semi- retired Financial executive who is a mix of good business judgment, compassion for the poor and special interest in the homeless as my oldest son runs a homeless shelter; naturally inquisitive especially about science, computers and cooking. Probably complex but definitely open sometimes direct. To sum into one word an enigma. Giving back to society is a critical activity. Favorite activity for several years has been preparing Christmas dinner for Hospice patients who are alone on Christmas. Over the years a whole group of volunteers emerged who all participated. While have done much of the cooking the teamwork to create a hot dinner for Christmas Eve, Christmas breakfast and Christmas lunch is incredible,: baking, cooking, pacing and delivering. Great ! I will never be financially rich or famous, but if our children are our heritage, then I am a success, with what I define as three doctors as children and doctor of bodies(MD), doctor of minds(PhD in Economics) and doctor of souls( the director of Homeless shelter). These three have given 5 wonderful grandchildren. All three families are great human beings, but also have learned to give back to society.

After 38 years of marriage, I became widowed, somewhat unexpectedly. During the last 11-12 years, I found myself becoming more involved as a caregiver. Retired after having a (very) small business for about 20 years. Currently involved in volunteer work and parish council activities. Some specifics include a homeless shelter for adults, and right-to-life activities. My viewpoints are largely conservative; however, they lean toward being more liberal in terms of treating people in conformance with Catholic teachings. Generally, I'm a low-key type of person. As far as preferences, I enjoy people with a sense of humor -- from puns to dry wit. Kidding around with people (and being kidded right back) is fun, provided kidding isn't intended to be insulting or demeaning. Attending weekly Mass is a must, along with occasional extra worship services. Because of a history of shoulder injuries, participation in sports is considered nil. Non-smoker and non-drinker. Getting together with family is important on holidays; we don't do much socializing because of our vastly different ways of life, but phone and email contact happens fairly often. Friends are important -- to give support and receive it; also to add to enjoying life. Animal friends are important, too. Currently I'm the proud father of a dog and cat at home. We had one child -- a daughter, who is now happily married with 2 daughters of her own. The best job I have ever had is that of being a "grandpa". It's so enjoyable to watch the "little people" grow and develop. The oldest granddaughter (now 4) is already whipping me in debates. Either she's a genius, or I've become dumb. A current personal improvement activity is dance lessons (ballroom style). It's going a bit slow, partially because at this age, the body parts don't always want to cooperate. Not much of an outdoor person--I would guess in part because of a large city yard to mow, and the fact there is no outside air-conditioning in the summer. Of course, the opposite occurs in winter -- with snow removal and no heat out there. Board games were fun and I'd like to get back into them. Already got with the times and have been playing Mexican Train Dominoes. Long range plans are open, but I plan to remain in the area. This should do for now (I hope). I also hope this can be modified after I see some of the brilliant write-ups on this site. Blessings to all who might spend time reading this.

I am involved with, and feel support from, my parish community. I enjoy meeting new people and engage in conversation very easily. My friends say I am quite funny. Musical performances move me emotionally, whether it is the symphony or local musicians. So much so in fact, that I recently joined our church choir and give my best effort in singing tenor. I very much enjoy the performing arts as well as the museums in the area. I used to walk daily with my dog, but now that she's no longer with me, I must keep the motivation up . It provides a very good daily cardio workout in God's great outdoors. For quite sometime my life has been wrapped around concern for helping my daughters and supporting them in any way possible. A long story for another time. I've been instructed that it is time for me to get out of my shell, pursue my life, and find happiness and love. -peace- Ed

I was raised Catholic and still attend church regularly. While I have difernces with some of the Church's teaching, I still believe in God and try to live a decent life where I follow my conscience and treat others with respect. I work out, like to go out to social functions and love animals.

Right now my kids and volunteer work are how I spend my time. I enjoy road travel out to the Mississippi River and the United States. Air travel includes trips to see my daughters in California and friends in Florida. I am interested in a travel partner who would be up for a river boat trip on the Rhine River or an Alaskan cruise. I just went on a six mile bike ride and enjoy working around the house and yard.
