I am a quiet, compassionate person. I am a widow and have one son who lives at home. I enjoy movies and being outdoors in a park, taking walks or going to the beach when it is quiet. My faith is a very important part of my life and I would like to be able to share that with someone who is also involved in the church. I am respectful of others feelings and expect to be treated the same way. I like people who are kind and have a sense of humor and enjoy spending time together.

I consider myself a somewhat sophisticated intellectual "trading" mainly in humanities, a maker and consumer of music, photography, foreign cultures and words of wisdom, among others. I believe in commitment, sharing, trust and support, and that true relationships emerge strengthened from the test of time.

I live a very rich and rewarding life with my family and friends playing a major role in it. I love life and the simpler things it has to offer and am looking for a long term relationship with an honest, sensitive and caring man who can mentally challenge and emotionally be there for me, and I him! I am now at a place in my life where I can focus on "our" happiness and put some effort into developing a romantic and fulfilling relationship with that special someone! I love to travel, dine out(occasionally) very active in sports when I was younger, not so much any more, but love soccer college basketball, tennis, baseball and I imagine could get interested in golf! I keep a tidy house and cook, though I don't consider myself a great cook! I am carefree and happy with an appetite for adventure! I am looking for a man with a zest for life, traditional values and who is ready to enter into a joyful, meaningful and lasting relationship!!! I need to update my profile!! I fell earlier this year sustaining a fractured femur, but while I was in recovery, my Dr. discovered that there was a hairline fracture in the rod that was inserted compromising everything that had already been done and leading to a second and more intensive surgery, one that lasted several hours and of course, rehabilitation had to start all over again, they say things happen for a reason.....

Early retiree looking to meet someone with compatible personality and at least a few common interests to spend time with and share/exchange interests while getting better acquainted with the ultimate goal of building a long-term relationship. Prefer to meet someone fairly local (My location is in Queens County, New York City). Not interested in doing a lot of traveling, especially international; occasional local trips okay. Not a big pet person (pets are cute, but, unfortunately, not my thing, although I once had an aquarium of tropical fish and would do so again now if I had the space for it; watching it is actually very relaxing and soothing). Have many diversified interests (I am rather like a Renaissance man). Am somewhat more intellectually oriented, although I also enjoy being active, especially exercising and being outdoors in nice weather. I am generally serious-minded, but I do have a good sense of humor, which is somewhat arcane. I am an avid reader and knowledge seeker and enjoy discussing serious subjects, including politics, science, philosophy, theology and history. I own many books. For leisure time activities, I enjoy listening to music, including classical, jazz, popular; movies, theater, concerts; outdoor activities such as walking and gardening; dining out and cooking. Was a fairly decent ballroom dancer years ago, but have become rusty for want of a partner. Don't watch much TV, but when I do, I prefer classic movies, Sunday morning political commentary/debate shows, PBS - documentaries and science programs, Masterpiece Theater - I like Downton Abbey. I usually multi-task while listening to the radio and enjoy Conservative oriented talk shows and programs such as John Bachelor and Coast to Coast. The latter tends to make me somewhat of a night owl now that I don't have to maintain a rigid schedule; however, I can also be an early bird or just go without sleep when necessary. LOL! Despite my serious nature and interests, I consider myself very "normal" and reasonably personable, albeit rather more introspective and reserved, but certainly not "geeky" , "nerdy" or freaky, a la The Big Bang Theory crowd, although that is probably the only current sitcom I watch and get a laugh from. I also spend a portion of my time volunteering and am an officer of a local civic association. I am "green", leave a minimal carbon footprint, and am very socially and environmentally aware and responsible. I seldom, if ever, attend or watch sports events.

I enjoy being with my family and I do so as often as we can. I am active with a pretty busy schedule of family, friends and my work in real estate. I enjoy much of what Manhattan has to offer, the beauty and serenity of Long Island, the mountains and of course ocean beaches. Gardening my small garden, a good movie or the theatre. I love to camp and explore esp in New England, Vermont, New Hampshire, Mass. and Maine. For most of those places autumn is the best season of the year, beautiful colors and fragrance of fallen leaves. Love to go antiquing, concerts of oldies and contemporary music.

I'm devoted to family and friends alike. I'm romantic, loyal and easy going; enjoy laughter, good conversations (wine optional), reading, TV, music, movies, theater, museums and travel (especially exploratory day trips). Looking for friendship first, and then see where it goes.
