Hi! I'm Matthew. I'm from Guilderland, NY and work as a software developer. In my free time I read, sculpt, paint, practice on my drums, and work out. I love to cook and experiment in the kitchen. Ever since finding a new connection with God, I've had a new drive to better myself and expand my interests. I'm still a bit of a nerd and like to chill with a video game every so often and get together with some friends for our weekly tabletop games. I'm hoping to start doing charity streams for Extra Life or St. Jude's Play Live. In the summertime, I swim and go camping at least once a year. In the winter I like to spend a lot of time out just enjoying the cold and how quiet it gets with snow on the ground. I snowboard on occasion. I'm terrible at it, but it's a good time.

I am a devout but imperfect RC who became a widower in early 2016 after more than 38 years in one marriage. I had retired in 9/10 from a career of more than 31 years as a lawyer and administrative law judge. Upon retirement, I became a full-time care giver to my late wife and our disabled adult (age 36) son. I am a home maker and supervise 3 employees who help me with caregiving for about 60 hours per week on average. (My sister in law has lived with us for the last 2 years. All 3 disabled family members have or had muscular dystrophy. To be clear, I plan to hire additional help as the caregiving needs of my loved ones increase. I am not looking for a match to help me with caregiving.) I am looking to form a wholesome, long-term relationship which I hope would result in marriage in the Catholic Church. I am more organized than most, very self reliant and a good cook and housekeeper. A key shortcoming is that I too easily become frustrated by those who hurt or inconvenience others intentionally or because of a lack of care. A big blessing is that my 92 year old mother is still alive and well. My son and I visit her for at least 2 days each month about 200 miles from here. I have no debt and am financially very comfortable. My late wife, son and I took at least one nice vacation each year before they became wheel chair bound. I would love to travel more in the future. I volunteered quite a bit in the past and would enjoy doing more of that too. Singing in the church choir was something I enjoyed very much. One of my old pastors used to say frequently that we should "live simply so that others may simply live." I honestly believe I am living my life consistent with that message. I will not forget the past but I am very interested in creating new memories with the right person. If I had to sum up in a few words what I am really looking for going forward, I would say that I am looking for a relationship in which we will share the good times but also give each other support when difficult times come. I want to find someone who is interested in sliding enthusiastically rather that limping begrudgingly into home plate over what I have every reason to believe will be another 25-30 years.
