Hey, my name is Marcin (it's Polish), but my friends just call me Martin. I'm easy-going and appreciate spontaneity in life. I love to see where things lead when I go somewhere, and let life take me on an adventure every once in a while.
I enjoy good coffee, beer, and wine. My favorite way to relax after a day of work is with a good TV show on Netflix. I like to eat out and try new foods, but I enjoy cooking even more. Most nights, I have the grill or stove going, and have watched a good bit of the Food Network. I really like getting together with friends just to eat, drink, and play some board games. I like socializing and hanging out with new people, I just feel I need to recharge after.
After finishing my BS in electrical engineering and physics and Notre Dame (Go Irish!) I went on for my MS and PhD at Georgia Tech. I love learning and studying new things, and am a bit of a tech geek. I'd say my passion is learning, especially areas of physics. I'm constantly watching lectures, or educational channels on YouTube, or reading books on the subject. I really enjoy my job as a research engineer with the Air Force Research Lab. I'm a problem solver and like to be challenged in what I do.
Once a year or so I try to go on a vacation somewhere. I've been to my fair share of beaches, but really I much prefer a forested campsite with a crackling fire. I love exploring national parks and seeing the different faces of nature. I also love travelling abroad when I can make the plans. There are many more places I would love to go see all around the world including Australia and New Zealand, and revisiting Rome. Skiing is a go-to in the winter, although now that I am living in the midwest mountains are a little harder to come by.
I listen to a lot of podcasts. Some of my favorites include Planet Money, Radiolab, and TechStuff. I read and listen to a lot of books as well, usually in the fantasy, fiction, or espionage thriller genres. When I'm listening to music I'll put on a random online playlist or station. I don't listen to just one genre, but my go-tos are alt rock, indie, acoustic guitar, folk, ... If I'm not listening to those in the car, I probably have NPR on.
I can't say I'm great at any of these (pretty good at some), but I like playing tennis, disc golf, ultimate, guitar, and piano. I have an older sister, and two younger siblings who I love. My family is a bit spread out now, but I go visit whenever I can.
