I'm smart: I like to read, but I especially like to think about life -- my own, the wider national, global, economic, etc., contexts. I'm playful (young kids love me as much I love them), I love joking, teasing, and banter, I can be sarcastic and have a sharp/cutting wit. I like being active: from childhood on I've played a wide range of sports, from hockey to tennis to basketball to ultimate frisbee, etc. I'm passionate: interpersonal and physical chemistry matters to me. I am musical and I love the arts in various forms: I've always enjoyed singing, I grew up taking piano lessons, taught myself guitar. I love language, including in the form of poetry, novels, witty repartee: hence TV shows that I like include 30 Rock, Modern Family, the BBC "Sherlock" series, The Colbert Report. Also NPR radio, esp. "Car Talk" and "Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me." Compassionate values are important to me, and in my life these have been linked to cross-cultural experiences and my Christian faith: I want to take seriously the suffering in the world, and have this affect my concrete decisions about money, time, vocation, etc. Spiritual practices such as prayer and meditation are important to me; even though there are many problems in the church I attend mass weekly and enjoy being a part of a church community.

I think I'm a pretty simple person. I don't have anything to hide, I don't have any drama in my life, and I don't need coffee to wake up or medication to be happy. I'm working full-time and am in school part time going for my M.B.A degree. Other than school/work, I like to go sit by the ocean and admire the view, walk on the cliffwalk, practice my cooking skills (because I need A LOT of practice), and hanging out with my sis and friends. I'll end this intro with one of my favorite quotes (taken from the classic tv show: The Wonder Years). It seems appropriate to share here: "All our young lives we search for someone to love. Someone who makes us complete. We choose partners and change partners. We dance to a song of heartbreak and hope....all the while wondering if somewhere, somehow, there's someone perfect who might be searching for us."

It's a big world out there and it's worth seeing. I enjoy travel, art, culture and cuisine. I take my faith with me where ever I go. I believe in honor, virtue and love. Life is an adventure and I'm looking for some one to share an adventure with. I'm a New England transplant. I moved to Rhode Island back in April and am slowly settling into life here. Previously I was stationed in Iwakuni, Japan with the US Navy. I lived in Japan almost four years and loved every minute of it, but it's now time to adjust to living in the States again. Trust me, there is such thing as reverse culture shock! The site temperament test says I'm a melancholic-choleric. I've been told I'm more of a phlegmatic. Maybe because I have too much phlegm (ehhem). That was a bad joke. I have my father's sense of humor, dry, and a bit cheesy. I love Monte Python, a good pun and the ever elusive triple entendre, if that gives you an idea of my sense of humor. I should also mention that I smile like a trout! I'll be honest, having spent a fair amount of time on the other side of the world presented obvious challenges to making any relationship work, but I've never been one to shy away from a thing because it was difficult. The difficult things in life are the ones most worth doing. That said, I find introductions to be the most difficult. How do you introduce yourself to a perfect stranger based on a few photos and a couple paragraphs. If you know how please let me know. I promise I can continue a conversation from there.
