I retired from government service after 31 years. I substitute teach in the Diocese of Arlington. I wanted to keep in touch with the youth of the church and the schools are the way to do this. I coach basketball, softball and track for 25 years and will continue to do so until it is no longer fun. I do not make the mistake that I know everything about coaching. I learn something new from each team. I enjoy music, movies and plays mostly musicals. I read all the time mostly fiction. My favorite books are fantasy and science fiction. Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings are among my favorites. I like action adventure Robert Ludlum, Tom Clancey, James Patterson, John Grisham. I have 9 nephews and nieces and 14 great nephew and nieces. I enjoy games with family and friends and enjoy going out either for dinner or movies as long it is not all the time. My faith has gotten stronger over the years and I try to instill God’s presence in my teaching and coaching. I have a great dog Niki a tri color Sheltie.I have a place in the mountains that is not far away. I had a fire place put in just to watch the flames jump. As a plus it also could heat the house. I like to be positive otherwise you turn moody.I am dependable, faithful and honest and can not stand lying.I don’t like to play guessing games when it comes to communication. Communication should be clear so that there is no misunderstanding. I have seen too many disasters because of poor communication.

Let's see: I'm passionate, fun loving, caring, easy going, practical, devout, funny, bold, easily inspired, salty, calm, smart, irreverent, creative, particular, energetic, loving, and joyous. It goes without saying (but I'll say it anyway) that faith, family, friends and fun are important to me. I enjoy cooking, gardening, reading, visiting far away (and not so far away) places, listening to music, watching the ocean, attending concerts and plays, DIY projects around the house, walking/hiking, a night out dancing, a night in doing nothing much, and trying new things. I have a quiet/thoughtful/prayerful side. I'd love to take ballroom dancing lessons and rock-climbing lessons. I am flawed like everyone else and have my share of baggage, but I promise that my baggage contains no sharp instruments or dangerous substances (although it frequently contains more clothes than I really need). I've learned that having fun is not as much about what you are doing as it is about who you are doing it with. I'm moving into the next chapter in my life with gratitude, an independent spirit and a smile.

Here's my origin story: After being bitten by a radioactive barista, I became Hipster-Man! Powered by organic kale, I swing across skyscrapers with my hand-woven, Fair Trade Super Scarf. My other powers include: increased strength, increased agility, and the ability to trap criminals in my Instagram selfies. My weakness: GMOs. But, I can recover from any injury when exposed to the sound waves of local bands. Just kidding :P. It's funny how things work out sometimes. I had to write a short bio of myself in the third person for a gen ed English class once, so I'm basically just copy pasting that as my intro haha: Daniel was born in November 1988 in Makati, Metro Manila, Philippines. He was born into a Filipino family whose heritage was heavily influenced by the Spanish colonialism of the Philippines. He lived in Las Pinas, Philippines until August 1993, when he and his mother, Susan, immigrated to Northern Virginia to live with his father, Jake. Like many Italian Americans and Irish Americans, Daniel is zealous about both the United States and his heritage specifically, and he does not agree with or identify with any forms of pan-nationalism (a present day example of this concept would be Pan-Asianism). He is very idealistic, and has many interests. Daniel looks up to the Christian Humanists of the Rennaissance who believed that humans should develop all their faculties to the fullest. He often dreams of being like them, and he speaks (in a manner that is only partially joking) of desires of doing "everything from basket-weaving to sky-diving." He just earned his bachelor's at George Mason University. Daniel has two younger sisters: Mary (20 years old) and Rachel (12 years old).

I am a curious person. I enjoy exploring the world, even simple, every day things. Even more, I enjoy sharing my interests and experiences with others, and hearing and supporting them in theirs. I enjoy a breadth of popular activities and interests, current events, tinkering, sports, outdoors, nature, animals, gardening, food and cooking, music, art, flea markets, festivals, museums, and especially friend and family get-togethers. No one dominates. Usually something pops up in my mind or comes across my path. I enjoy conversation on most topics and laughing, and am told I have a unique sense of humor. I enjoy visiting and spending time with my family that live between the Washington DC and Pittsburgh areas. My siblings and I share many of our parents' (two opposites who have both passed) values with our own variations. I think through our time together, sharing stories and updates, we support each other and highlight was is important. I also have a few close friends throughout the Midwest and South I connect with from time to time. I enjoy cooking or however I can contribute to home entertaining or group travels. I have two daughters, one out-of-state with her mother who has special needs and one in college in the Midwest. Over the last 5 years, I have focused on being closer to them with visits, mail, and even the social media. Sometimes I feel like I'm playing that arcade game with the bucket crane where odds are slim of getting the best prize, but experience has taught me to not give into any initial anxiety, and every once in a while I am rewarded with an acknowledgement that I was successful or even surprising. I believe my faith journey is very similar to my effort building relationships with my children or getting back into running shape, not giving up, trying, and learning.

I am focused right now on starting a career and finding my professional path in life. That may mean that it is not the right time for a companion, but I need to see what kind of women are interested in me. I come from a conservative military family. i was an active duty Army officer for nearly 5 years and now work in Homeland Security. I am an athlete who runs and works out almost daily and would want an companion who would share these activities. I love animals, especially dogs and think every child should have animals. I love to travel, especially adventure travel involving outdoor activities. I am a black belt in karate and a certified scuba diver. I am also a politically conservative believer in the Second Amendment and a member of the NRA, but I also believe in social justice and I am not afraid to get my hands dirty in helping my fellow man. I think I am looking for a "tradional Catholic woman" who wants to be a wife and a mother, who sees her faith as integral to her life and her marriage. Because of my career, I hope to find someone who, like me is somewhat willing to sacrifice some comfort in order to be of service to the Nation and our fellow citizens by being part of a Homeland Security/law enforcement/military family. That may require moves to different places, even overseas, and fo me to work non-traditional hours or be absent sometimes on duty. I moved six times and overseas twice before I was 18, so this is a familiar kind of life for me, but I also know that it requires a very strong partner. I would like a traditional family of my own and I see this profile as perhaps the first step.

I was born and raised in Alexandria, VA to Salvadorean parents. Simply put, my life revolves around my family. My son, work and school keeps me busy, so on my free time I like to relax. As a mother, my priority has always been my son. But as he gets older, and naturally wants more time to himself/his friends, I realize it's OK to make time for myself again. So here I am...

I'm a genuinely nice guy. Some people may discribe me as a geek but I like to think I wear it well. I'd characterize myself as being a man out of time, adaptable but unphased by change in environment at the same time fun since few things bother me. I'm very confident and from that I am free to explore both myself in the world. I have many hobbies to include working out, parkour, martial arts, shooting and creative writing. Of course there was more but you cannot sum up the person in a paragraph. I would like to add that I am strong in my faith and I'm close to my immediate family. My parents in particular have set a high bar for a life together in Christ that I'm not sure can be matched. But I'm willing to try. ( it's good to have goals) One of my favorite quotes comes from a book I read as a young man, "Know many, trust few. Always paddle your own canoe..." Frost, is also one of my favorite poets.

I am from Northern Virginia and have lived in this area for the first 18 years of my life and some years after that with stints in Spain (three years) and the DR (6 months), learning Spanish along the way. In Spain, I played basketball in Spain and taught 1st grade. I also love politics, as I work on Capitol Hill. Pretty social, so I am often hanging out. Also, love chillin with fam (four nieces). Must confess I love sports, especially the NBA and NFL and Nats. Obviously a political junkie too. FoxNews and ESPN are often my channels of choice, something about Downtown Abbey got me I must say. The Road goes ever on and on Down from the door where it began. Now far ahead the Road has gone, And I must follow, if I can, Pursuing it with eager feet, Until it joins some larger way Where many paths and errands meet. And whither then? I cannot say!
