Have you ever read Calvin and Hobbes? I am Calvin, grown up, and I'm looking for my Susie Derkins. Okay, some details about myself: --The Catholic Faith is the most important thing in my life. Within that framework, I strive to have a closer relationship with Jesus and to conform myself more closely to Him. --I'm an intellectual (Ph.D. in classics). I'm working on writing a book. Don't worry, though; I do have a steady day job as a technical writer, and I work hard at it. --I grew up in a small town in Illinois. I'm Midwestern through and through. --I love music (especially Americana, folk, rock, and 80s), trivia competitions (I've auditioned for Jeopardy!), reading, going for walks, coffee shops, local history, and little adventures in the area. --If you know what the four temperaments are, count me down as a melancholic-choleric. --My sense of humor is very dry--Atacama Desert dry. I have a story or two (thousand) to tell, and I want to hear yours, too.

Hi! There are a lot of websites out there geared toward meeting people, but I joined CM hoping to find people who, like me, are always working to make their Catholic faith a priority in their life. I'm an easy-going person who can be a bit quiet at times, but I definitely enjoy talking and joking with people once I get to know them. I play the drums and the piano (both just for fun at the moment...there's still so much more to learn!) and really enjoy practicing photography. Rock and pop are my favorite genres of music. I have a full time job and I work hard, but also understand the importance of having a good balance between work and fun. In my spare time, I enjoy walking, watching movies (especially action and comedy films), reading, riding my moped during the summer months, and spending time with family and friends. Please check out my "Favorite Things" section to see what we have in common, and if you're interested in getting to know each other, feel free to send me a message! :)

I am a passionate sports fan. I love the nostalgia of baseball, listening to Bob Uker's jokes, the action and scoring of basketball and the excitement of the Green Bay Packers. I love grilling in my back yard and having little sports event parties at my house. I have been most influenced by my parents and a few women I got to know. My Dad likes to tease me and tell me sarcastic jokes. I also enjoy playing tennis, golf, basketball, bowling, softball and dating.

I never thought I would be on a Catholic match site, but here I am! I am happy with my life as is, but would like to share daily living with someone special. I'm here to find a true friend and someone I can connect with. Someone who will be able to finish my sentences. Who has as much passion for me, as I have for him. Someone who shares some of the same interests, and open to new adventures. I pray our Lord will help me out with this, because this online dating endeavor is definitely taking me out of my comfort zone. I am employed full-time and work with great co-workers. Once away from the office, I enjoy spending time with friends and family be it at a cookout, sporting event, concert or at home or the cottage. Although most of my life has been spent in the city, I appreciate nature and like biking, kayaking, skiing and swimming. Sitting on the pier watching the sunset is always special. I also believe it is important to support the arts for life needs the theater, music and dance. My two sons are married and I was blessed with a grandson the end of last year. What a precious gift from heaven! Family is most important to me, as I hope yours is to you. I love to laugh and share, and hope you do as well!

I am a PhD student and as you know it's quite a commitment! To survive in grad school I chose the subject, which fascinates me the most - online campaigning and how it can lead to ideological polarization. Bear in mind, this topic attracted me even before last elections :) Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my friends. I am an avid skier and sailor (as you can see!), but I also like hiking, camping, dancing, and going to music concerts and shows. I enjoy travelling and having visited most of Europe, I am now exploring the US and also dreaming about a trip to Cuba and Georgia (the country ;)).

I am passionate about my career and my education. While these do not occupy all of my time--I'm not a workaholic by any stretch of the imagination--they are both integral parts of my identity. I have worked very hard to achieve the successes I've enjoyed so far, so cultivating my professional and educational credentials is important to me. As far as influential people are concerned, I would have to point to several former professors of mine who taught me that I have the "stuff" to be successful in my disciplines if I choose to pursue further graduate studies. Even though I graduated eighteen years ago, we all still remain in close contact and make a point of meeting for lunch or playing golf several times a year. I am very blessed to have mentors like these, and I am even happier to say that I can call them friends. In my leisure time, one of my favorite things to do is to play golf. When the seasons and my professional responsibilities allow, I try to play at least two or three times a week, especially with members of my family or close friends. If I cannot play golf, I enjoy reading, particularly fiction or biography. I'm also an ardent "homer," so I regularly follow the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, and Wisconsin Badgers. Finally, I love spending time with my dog Abbey. We've been together for over four years now, so bonding with her and making sure she's happy is a great deal of fun.

My husband of 48 years died last April. We were both active in our parish church, St. Marys in Hales Corners but I have to admit that I am becoming more dissatisfied with their very liberal attitue. Iwas lucky enough to have the sweetest dog at my side for the padt seven years and she has been a Godsend in the past year. Always have been a dog person and Holly is dog #7 for me. My sons are respectively 45 and 46. One lives in Chicago and is an artistic director of a Gay/Lesbian theater and the other lives in the area. Neither are married and I have no grandchildren. Ienjoy our summers with all the festivals and also love to travel. Don't exercise as often as I used to but am a water aerobic instructor at a local club.
