I have been single for the last 13 years and moved to Alabama from Texas about two years ago. Times have changed and ways have changed in meeting new people (men)... so thought I would attempt this new venture. I am a cradle Catholic, and my roots are with the Catholic Church so I am looking for someone who will be placing God first in their life, along with family, and community. Family is very important to me. I have a married daughter who has blessed me with four of the best grandkids EVER. (Yup, I'll challenge anyone on that one!) The laughs I have with them is what makes life fun. I am looking for someone who wants a dating partner, and to see what happens during that time period. Looking for someone who is uplifting and enjoys and appreciates life to its fullest. I love to smile and laugh about myself and what funny jams I can get myself into. Mistakes have been made by every human and how we deal with them is what makes us all a better person! Yes I am optimistic and will always give a smile to anyone who passes in my path. That's just part of my southern upbringing and charm. Things I like to do...... still can't beat a good old high school football game on Friday nights! But I also like watching (better attending though) college football games. Love to try out new restaurants and catching the latest movie. I love to go junking and finding just the right piece to restore and I also love to work in my flower garden. And when all else fails... you can find me curled up with a book.

I love life as God has given me and I try to be the person he wants me to be each day I wake and begin anew. He took the love of my life after 30 years of marriage and I cherish our children and now grandchildren. They are what make me keep going at this point in my life. I have been retired for the last two years and while loving the freedom, I am thinking of a part time job just to get me working on something worthwhile and also get me out of the house.

Wide/varied interests & a high energy level keep me busy with many endeavors. I love walking, sailing, fishing, playing golf, ... I teach painting classes and am writing a book on painting... I volunteered at the Atlanta zoo and just visited the zoo in Gulf Shores... I re-did a project home so now live in Fairhope. I wish I had someone to enjoy the many new events & places. My dog is a great pal and well behaved but he isn't a person - altho' he thinks he is. I enjoy intelligent conversations and people that have kept themselves in good shape through exercise and healthy eating as that is important to me. Laughter is a must.... and, obviously, he must be someone with high ethics and integrity.

I am passionate about my family and friends. I have lived in B'ham all of my life so I have life-long relationships that I cherish. I look forward to what life holds for me in this next phase of my life. Getting close to retirement age, I am looking forward to more leisure time to travel, experience more out of life and spending time with future grandchildren. I say future because my one and only beautiful daughter is getting married in August to a wonderful young man, so their union will open up an entirely new phase of my life.

I love to wake up and thank God for the day first thing! I am passionate about volunteering offering my time and talent to decorating the altar and vestibule during season changes. I am also a greeter which offers to me the wonderful opportunity to smile and welcome the people as they enter the church. I am passionate and care about my children and their significant others. They have kept me buoyed since the death of my husband in 2000. We have become closer than ever especially with my two grands. I call it unconditional love. They are very supportive of my finding someone who will walk with me and make me smile and laugh. Probably the most influential thing to happen to me in life was the travel that we experience when we were in the military. We lived all over the US and then spent 5 years in Germany with extensive exposure to so many cultures and experiences offered by so many layers of exciting foods, beautiful art and architecture as well as people who loved the US and our presence in their country. For leisure I start my day at the pool and water exercise. I like to do that 4 or 5 times a week. Hiking is the other outlet that I enjoy especially the landscape, birds and nature in general. The serenity is just amazing!! I really enjoy lifelong learning in our Osher group at UAH. Keeping my mind sharp with learning so many new things without any stress or strain is wonderful! There are many like minded people who I would probably never meet otherwise so there is a doubly positive situation! We also go on awesome field trips and often have a group trip overseas planned. This year is Spain! Enjoy movies, museums, concerts, and plays a lot!! Probably missed something but feel free to ask!

Joi de Vivre person who is genuine, caring, devoted to God, family and country. Love to cook with a similar minded partner even entertain guests and try new recipes and wines to accompany. Like to remain active physically, mentally and spiritually with various activities such as life-long learning and exploring what is around the next bend. Love well-behaved canines and mission-oriented training, the human/canine bond that comes with it and unconditional love. I am open minded yet the ENTF intuition trumps some tough situations and I have seen much of that in work and life. I have been called driven in some cases - I like to learn, have a mission of sorts and never have a dull moment as I can always find a challenge such as a home or garden project or planning a new adventure. I love to make order from chaos and learn about people and processes along the way. Seeking: Similar minded faith and values gentleman, at least 6 ft tall; clean cut in appearance, (beard is fine); creative mind and challenging intellect who is active and youthful of similar age + or- a few years of my 61 years young. Someone who loves to cook, explore new recipes/foods/countries and of course, dogs. Being honest and genuine while open about expectations is most appreciated as is a slow, steady friendship first. Chemistry is important as are all the above qualities and characteristics. I am in no hurry. I am Southern raised in NC yet educated in Virginia, Alaska, Florida and Alabama. I love the COLD not the hot humidity of our Bama summers! Bring on the snow and let me see my breath when on the trail with Belgian Malinois "Bella" as it is so refreshing. My honesty can be a detriment at times - no BS or games, ever. Guess that is my military training and upbringing jumping out. I may need some retraining to learn to slow down although I always take time to smell the roses.

Since I have retired I now have more time to really enjoy things that bring me happiness. Family, friends and travel. Life is good when all those can be combined together! Since it isn't practical to only be totally immersed in only those three, I also stay busy with volunteer work, gardening, helping a couple civic groups. I do like to stay busy most of the time. I have been exposed to many mentors in my life that have directed me to my current life and self awareness. This makes my volunteer work more of my way of giving back than just a hobby or something to do. Religion has become an important part of my life and I give thanks for all the blessings I have in my like with my family, community, and capabilities to help others in my volunteer work. Prayer and faith has given me an island refuge in many years of turbulent times and transitions. For that I am grateful and thankful.
