My friends tell me that I'm good at lifting up other people. I'm very active and like to do things (and I also love down time - I've been to the Abbey of Gethsemani twice and survived in silence for four days straight...whew). Since I moved to Washington, DC the summer of 2014 I've done everything from taking sculling lessons on the Potomac, to starting banjo lessons...you name it! I tried flying trapeze lessons and don't think I'll ever do that again--yikes!

Thanks, and best of luck to all in their searches. I have recently re-relocated back to Washington, DC after spending the past two and one-half years living in Savannah, helping take care of my niece and nephew in the wake of their parents' (my brother and his now-ex wife) divorce. Sadly the reason I have been able to come back to DC and resume my regularly scheduled life, already in progress, is because my father died in December 2014. In the aftermath of his death, my mother decided to relocate permanently to Savannah, freeing me up to return to DC. We are as a family still very much in trial-and-error mode, so if I need to return to Savannah as my mother ages, I will. But for the time being, I am grateful to be home. I love to cook and am really interested in "slow food" and the farm-to-table approach to eating. I took that for granted until recently -- I think people my age were among the last generation (in the West, anyway) to grow up eating real food. It has only been since I have started helping to raise my niece and nephew that my eyes have been open to the reality that most children today honestly have no idea what real food tastes like, or about the importance of shared meals. I also like exercising), hanging out with my dog,the performing arts, music, day trips, the beach, the mountains, the usual stuff. I am a serious reader, but a non-serious one too. The Summa is on my nightstand, but there's chick lit in the beach bag, too.

I was born and grew up in Europe but have been living in the States for about 25 years. My life goal is to serve God in everything I do and hope to find a soul mate with this same goal. I have a wide range of interest: reading, cooking, traveling, biking, hiking, running, kayaking, sailing, boating, playing tennis, dancing (mostly ballroom), opera, symphony, museums, theaters, movies, lectures. I like exploring different cultures and ethnic restaurants. I love nature, especially the water and mountains (if I have to choose between the two, I go for the water though :)). I have traditional values and am comfortable with different roles for women and men, as it is described in the Bible. I believe that it takes three to get married and I strive to have a marriage that is God-centered and friendship based. Edit

I'm an ENFJ, outgoing, and fun. Born and raised in Texas, I make friends with strangers quickly. I like to laugh, am constantly cracking jokes, and I'm always up for new adventures. I also like spending quality one-on-one time with those I care about. Horror movies freak me out, and TV shows like "This Is Us" and "Parenthood" reduce me to a puddle of tears. I enjoy exploring DC's museums and outdoor scenes but also equally enjoy staying in reading a good novel or binge-watching Netflix. I'm definitely a foodie: I love trying new/unusual foods from all different parts of the world. and I also have fun experimenting with new recipes and hosting dinner parties or planning movie nights (like making dumplings while watching old Bruce Lee films). Coming from a family of immigration lawyers, I've been blessed to travel around the world and learn about so many different and wonderful cultures. I've spent summers abroad in Europe and China (for school, work, and family), and have also had the great fortune of traveling a lot as an adult. See below for my complete travel log! I love volunteering and organizing events for my young adult group to serve the homeless, the local pregnancy center, food banks, senior citizen homes, and community homes for adults living with mental disabilities (L'Arche). I've also been studying Byzantine iconography for the past couple of years.

Although a midwesterner by birth, I grew up on the east coast in a close-knit family. I was exposed to much culture as a child and so came to love classical music, classic literature, arts and crafts, and great food. My personality is calm and quiet on the outside, so it may take some time to get to know me.
