I moved to Washington, DC, almost two years ago be closer to my brother and his family, including my three favorite little girls in the world (my nieces) and to work in veterans' mental health. I'm friendly and direct, (sometimes blunt when appropriate), but I promise I'm generally a nice person and I'm loyal to a fault. A number of folks have told me that I'm an optimist. I was blessed with a wonderful Christian community where I lived previously in Charleston, SC, but I'm still looking for a home for my faith locally. I'm trying to stay open to wherever the Lord wants to send me. An unpredictable work schedule sometimes interferes with weekly Mass attendance, but I think God loves me no matter where I worship him (or even if I oversleep sometimes). In my off time, I like trying new activities and meeting new people. I like to make things (gardening, painting, sewing, knitting, etc) and I like being outdoors (hiking, cycling, running, watching 8 yr-old soccer games), but I also enjoy a good television drama show. I love traveling and discovering new places. I feel strongly about my faith and I like talking about it (narrowing down these seven faith questions to a simple yes or no answer seems ridiculous to me) but I also like joking around every now and then. I try not to take myself too seriously! I try to make the common theme in my life the connections I make with the people around me because that's how I catch a glimpse of the whole purpose--serving God, Him showing me His will, and the work He is doing in my life for His glory.

I grew up in the DC area and really enjoy living here. I love to spend time with the people who are important to me and and am lucky to have most of my family and many good friends in the area. I really enjoy running, yoga, biking, pretty much any outdoor adventure and generally being active.

I like to read, write, and think. I want to become a truly loving person and learn to trust God completely. I was forever changed by living in Japan for six years and I'm still contemplating the mystery of the humility and gratitude of the Japanese.

Well hey! Do I enjoy leisurely activities like reading, making Presidents' Day cards, crosswords and chatting with friends? You bet. Do I like running, hiking, kayaking, skipping and frolicking in all weather climates? Yes, indeed. Is it a scientific fact that I have the cutest nephews and nieces in the continental US and beyond? 9 out of 10 dentists agree that I do. Can you handle the fact that I will most likely pick flowers from all public places? If not, then we probably wouldn't even be friends.

I just finished RCIA and am happy not to have been married prior to this but I hope that I have finally found my church home. I am really enjoying classes very much and hope to meet a lot of great people in the church. I have been trained as a lawyer and have prestigious degrees but it doesn't seem like the typical path is what God has in store for me now - so I'm hoping to find out soon :) - whether that is finding the right person and having a family or something completely different, vocation-wise. Other than that, I really enjoy things like traveling to see my favorite things, whether church-related, food and exercise-related, or something artistic or cultural. NYC or even London is an aspirational home, but DC is fine too. I would really like to visit the Holy Land, Italy generally and Greece but have not before as I was concerned about my safety.

I am a recent convert to the Catholic Church, coming from a Pentecostal background. I was raised with a deep love of the Lord, of Scripture and of serving the poor as my parents were missionaries in Africa, where I grew up. I returned to the US and ended up going to medical school and residency as I had a heart to serve others. Gradually, I found myself drawn to the Church and was received in as an Eastern Catholic. I do not currently live in DC (I live in Kansas, at the moment, for work), but am hoping to move to DC in the next year to study bioethics and theology while I work-part time, unless God has other plans for me. I have a deep passion for life, particularly with travel and exploring old churches and new places around the world, with more to come hopefully! I love theology and discussing the intersection of faith and culture but also enjoy just simply being outdoors and with friends. I'm somewhat ambitious but not driven; I enjoy relaxing and just having fun. I'll try pretty much anything new once and I like unexpected adventures especially those that I don't plan. I love all sorts of music, from Gregorian chant to classical to country and radio jams. Finally, I seem to have an amazing ability to kill houseplants, even succulents, without really even trying. Any tips on how to gain a green thumb would be appreciated! :-)
