60, Ossian, IAPassionate about life and being in the moment! I look forward waking up each morning with a smile on my face thanking God for being alive and well, knowing another new day is in front of me...ready to explore and experience more in life and what is in store. What better way then to enjoy this with the "love of my life!" People most influential in my life? Pope Francis, Mother Theresa, Ghandi, Mandela, Princess Diana and last but not least my wonderful loving father who passed away of cancer. He was a special "light" in my life and I am very thankful for the love, respect, compassion and honor he gave to my mother and siblings. As others always shared, "Karla, your father was a true "Gentlemen's Gentleman" who was highly respected and yet humble in so many ways". It was such a joy seeing my parents so much "in love" every single day and something I had always dreamed of having in my life. For leisure time I enjoy spending precious moments with family, especially my children and my new baby granddaughter. I always look forward to traveling home at Christmas and during the summer months to spend precious time with them. I am so thankful for email, Facetime and other social media while I am away during the school year! I also enjoy the great outdoors, walking/running and of course with living and working in The Netherlands biking is a must. My greatest passion however is horseback riding as I miss having a horse to call my own. Thankfully I fulfill that passion through my daughter as when I am home stateside we manage to ride together. I also enjoy the arts, music, concerts, movies, visiting museums/tourist attractions and traveling of course as well as enjoying a fine wine and cooking. I am charismatic and easy to please as friends have shared!!
73, Fort Dodge, IAI enjoy the spring as new life springs up and winter is left behind. I enjoy travel and learning more about our world and our universal Catholic church. In my leisure time I am in bible studies and church activities. I also like to read and do internet research and especially like learning more about our Catholic faith. I am intrigued by the Early Church Fathers and the roots of the church. I enjoy a good movie, theatre and live concerts. I am active and feel we can keep learning throughout our lives.
78, Traer, IAI enjoy walking, bicycling, playing cards, listening to good music, going to plays and spending time with family and friends. My Catholic faith is important to me and has been a big influence in my life. I have a granddaughter who is playing college basketball and enjoy watching her compete, as well as all of the Iowa college teams, especially the Hawkeyes. My husband and I had 54+ years together before he passed from cancer over 5 years ago. He loved to tease me and I loved to make him laugh, even if it was at me. They were good years for the most part. We raised 4 boys and 1 girl and they have given me 14 grandchildren and 2 great grand children. I love to spend time with them, but they have their own lives as I have mine. I enjoy an occasional adult beverage, either beer or a glass of wine and an evening at home or out with friends. Most of all, I love to travel and believe in all of life the journey is as important as the destination. As of 10/2016, my granddaughter has graduated college so my winters are going to be filled with more travel and adventures. I am looking forward to zip-lining sometime soon. Also would like to kayak and/or canoe more.
65, Charles City, IAThere are many things I enjoy doing. I enjoy antique shops, and quilt shops. "Exploring" in some of the older antique shops can be interesting. For hobbies I enjoy quilting, wool applique, and other types of needlework. I want to learn rug hooking also. In the warmer weather, I enjoy being outside taking care of my lawn and doing some gardening. Next summer I hope to do some gardening with my daughter who lives on a farm. I like to have the fresh vegetables. I enjoy spending time with my granddaughters. I have 2, the oldest is 9 the youngest is 7. They live on a farm and believe me they are farm girls. They love the animals and like to show their calves at the 4H fair. The oldest also wants me to teach her some cross stitch and embroidery so she can take some other projects to the fair. I am looking forward to spending time with her to do that. I also enjoy eating out, movies, and going for drives or a weekend getaway. I would like to find someone who might have some similar interests, but I am also interested in new adventures. There are a lot of places I would like to see.
68, Davenport, IAThese are always difficult to put into words but I'll try. My happy place is at the Holy Mass. There are loads of interests in my life including Team RCIA, involvement in a grief recovery and healing ministry, restoring statuary, beading and listening to classical music. I'm passionate about anything British, as I lived in England for six years in the North near Oldham. I'm a fairly decent cook, love photography and travel, plus I read a lot of history, do research into my family and also for the books I write. I never stop learning. I haven't been around motorcycles, fast cars, or bars, so they don't have much appeal for me, but English Pubs with Pub Quizzes are right on my radar!!! I never want to stop learning, exploring and seeing what's over the next horizon. While I love doing this by myself, it's rather pleasant to share the journey with a like-minded companion.
60, Ankeny, IAI am a very light hearted, caring, honest, open, and true-to-my word female. I enjoy laughter, laughing with each other and at each other. Makes life that much more enjoyable. Love to be at home spending time with someone special, as well as going out. I love being out in nature within the trees or near water. Watching the rippling of the water and the wildlife nearby is a very calming experience for me. I do enjoy reading occasionally. I am currently reading the "Power of Prayer". I recently went to a CEW weekend at my church. It was a very powerful experience for me, and a very god- fulfilling weekend for me. Looking for a guy that has similar interests and that we complement each other.
77, Denison, IAI`m really quite simple. I have always done a lot of volunteer work and for about the last two years I am a volunteer on our hospital bus which means that we go all over the county and pick up people who don`t have another way to the hospital or clinic and when they are done,we return them home. I love to have fun and I love to play cards and started up a euchre card party every Monday at Denison about 11/2 years ago and each week we have about 45 people. I love to cook and bake-just yesterday I baked 5 large pans of cinnamon, raisin sweet rolls.I also bake all of my own bread and make about everything from "scratch" as I think it is healthier plus it tastes better. I live on my acreage and I mow about an acre of lawn and still raise a garden. If I meet the right person, I sure could give some of this work up. ha ha I like animals but not in the house because of allergies and I do like a clean house. Now tell me what you like--
