  • Julie, 55 from Lake Charles, LA
    55, Lake Charles, LA
I am a hardworking single mom with almost grown children. I have always been creative and loved working with my hands so I continued my education to become an Art teacher. I love working with children and getting them excited about art. I love seeing the pride in their eyes when they are successful and realize they have something meaningful and valuable to offer the world through their own style of art. I have a minor in Psychology and have considered continuing my education in Art Therapy because I have seen so many wounds and scars (emotionally and mentally) in the children that I teach. I want to give them a constructive outlet for their pain so they can get past it. I love building (Working with exotic woods) and I am a working potter in my spare time. I exhibit locally. I like all kinds of music but also enjoy the peace found in silence. I'm an outside person when weather permits. Not much on sitting inside watching TV unless it's too dark to be outside (or the mosquitoes are bad). I love traveling and have taken my children to many states in our country on vacation. I think it's important for them to know and be exposed to the opportunity that awaits them. My students tease me because at the end of every class, I tell them to have a good day and to "make good choices". I believe in accountability but not in the way that the school system looks at it. I believe that every person should hold themself accountable for their actions and choices. I think it's important for youth to know that they do have choices and their choices do matter. I'm a deep thinker and at times can be moody. That's the advantage of being an artist--people expect you to be a little strange!! I don't think I am strange but I admit I have used that stereotype to my advantage in my job!! I love my children and am fiercely loyal to them. I have one in college after completing a technical degree in automotive technology, one that is a sous chef at a local restaurant (also out on his own) and my baby is a Sr. in high school. Empty nest is getting very close. I am strong willed and opinionated at times but I believe in speaking the truth. I don't believe we have the right to judge...ever. I love laughter, music, a quiet glass of wine and a good novel. At 50, I shared a tattoo experience with my daughter. I have "Ad majorem Dei gloriam inque hominum salutem" on my right wrist. It originates from the Jesuits, St Ignatius of Loyola. It is a daily reminder to me of my real job.
  • Lesley, 60 from Metairie, LA
    60, Metairie, LA
I don't really enjoy talking about myself...but here goes. I am a very down-to-earth person who loves God, animals and music! I am the proud owner of two very spoiled cocktatiels named Gilbert and Misha. I enjoy music of all types, but Classical, Christian and Broadway are three of my favorites. I love Broadway music since I was once heavily involved in performing in musicals in some of the local theatres. One of my favorite memories was performing in Fiddler On The Roof. I also love Big Band music, as well as 60's and 70's and some 80's. I love to dance and have taken lessons in everything from ballet to line dancing. I have been a church cantor for 25 years. There are other members of my family who enjoy singing. My sister and one of my cousins and I frequently get together to sing karoake. We have, on occasion, taken our karoake machine to nursing homes and entertained the residents. I I am not athletically-inclined. I do enjoy walking. I enjoy watching football, figure skating and gymnastics. I always look forward to watching the Olympic games. I am told that I have a good sense of humor. My friends tell me that I make them laugh. I love old movies - one of my favorite channels is TCM. I also enjoy anything historical. I am looking for a permanent relationship - someone with whom I can spend the rest of my life. I am looking for someone who is good natured and would enjoy being involved in volunteer work with me. I would love to meet someone with whom I can go to church every Sunday. Family is important to me. Although Mom and Dad are both gone, my sister and I are very close. I would love to find someone who shares a closeness with his family because I would love being a part of that. I am looking for someone whom I can love and who will also be my best friend. I don't need to spend money to enjoy someone's company. Going out to eat is fine but I can be just as happy sitting at home watching a movie or listening to music. I have not seen too many movies at the theatres lately because I do not like violence or obscenity. I do enjoy going to the symphony and the museum but would also be happy at a football game or walking in the park. A word of warning...I don't like the kitchen. But I am willing to learn to cook - as long as you will do it with me! I guess I am looking for someone who will be happy with me just as I am. I have a variety of interests and would welcome exploring some new interests with you!

  • Michelle, 25 from Lafayette, LA
    25, Lafayette, LA
Hi, I'm Michelle. I find describing myself to be challenging because I feel like I am continually a work in progress, but to tell a little about myself, I am currently working as a registered nurse. I have been in this career for three years, and I can honestly say it has been challenging but has been crucial to the development of my person! I just began a new position in the Emergency Room, and I find this change to be difficult but I love the new challenge!! For my hobbies, I love to read, garden, socialize with friends, swim, exercise, and I surprisingly enjoy doing housework with Pandora blaring on my phone. I love to relax and chat with friends while having coffee or just sitting outside enjoying the weather. I also love to cajun dance to Cajun/zydeco music!! It's one of the highlights of southern Louisiana culture! I enjoy visiting with family and love goofing off with my siblings, and I love making friends with people who are genuinely seeking Christ. I strive to have the Lord as the center of my life, and I strive to seek Him everyday.

  • Jeanette, 62 from Thibodaux, LA
    62, Thibodaux, LA
Not perfect, but my dog thinks I'm awesome! I spend my days teaching little ones. No doubt about it - they can really make me laugh. At the end of the day and on weekends, though, I enjoy laughing, cooking, getting together, or listening to music with actual grownups. Hanging out with my family and grandchildren is definitely one of my favorite pastimes. I'm looking for someone to share their a little of their time and sense of humor - dining out, cooking in, outdoor fun, movies, dancing, or just taking it easy - I'm up for just about anything with the right person.
  • Jodie, 48 from Baton Rouge, LA
    48, Baton Rouge, LA
I like having good conversations with people who share my values and interests, but I also like learning from other people who may have have differences in opinion: everyone has unique experiences that shape their world views and this adds value to the conversation! My passions are children, teaching, and agriculture. I love nature and being in the outdoors so I can get in a good hike, run, or bike ride. Mornings are the favorite part of my day, I love watching the sun rise! Sunsets are beautiful, too. My hobbies include gardening and arranging flowers. I am an animal-lover, so I am into bird-watching and playing with dogs (and raccoons too!). I love to read because I am always wanting to learn new things. My favorite book topics include religion, history, architecture, and decorating. The people who have most influenced my life are my grandparents and my family. My grandfather was my first teacher. He taught me how to pick stink bugs and potato bugs off tomato plants when I was two-years-old! When I was about five, he taught me how to break suckers off the tomato plants, and by about age seven, I was tying a whole bunch of tomato plants on our family truck farm! I literally grew up in a pea patch, picking crowder and purple hull peas was my main responsibility! My grandmother was my role model. She really loved my grandfather and her children and grandchildren. Besides her love and warmth, her best attribute was her cooking! Unfortunately, I stayed outside helping raise vegetables instead of inside cooking them!
  • Laura, 50 from Alexandria, LA
    50, Alexandria, LA
I am a widow with one son who is in the Army. Let's get the cliches over: I love reading, walking , going out to eat and to the movies. Yes, nice walks on the beach with a pina colada sound nice as well. I love eating but not cooking. Tiny house living sounds fabulous. My faith is a very integral part of my life. I have just moved to Alexandria, so I am adjusting to living here. So far, I am liking it as it is where my family is. I am trying to find a church home. I have been visiting several in town. It's important to me to be involved in the church and doing good works.

I enjoy slow or fast dancing, walking in the woods holding, hands, candlelight dinner, travel, shopping and watching movies.
